So this year instead of making a one hour trip to Bay St. Louis
for the gulf coast coast cruise, my son and I decided to make the
two hour trip from the New Orleans area west to the Bayou Roundup.
It was an excellent event. The largest gathering of hamb style
vehicles I have seen in one place at any time. The parking was free
and easy. Really nice cars to check out in the indoor arena. Outside,
great weather and a very laid back friendly kind of atmosphere.
There were lots of HOT ROD coups and really nice customs
and pickups and such. Regarding the Music, it was great and not
so loud as to be annoying. Of course if you have not had the pleasure
of a South Louisiana Saturday music jam you may be quite pleasantly
surprised. As we were making our way out the crowds were increasing.
The tempo of the party was picking up with Jimmy Vaughn scheduled to
perform later this evening. I hope to return again next year. Check it out
I think you will like it.

Different feel from the big shows I used to attend in California. Good to see rides here in Louisiana, but we've got work to do!

I had alot of the same pictures already posted. We had a great time, the venue was nice less hectic than the bigger shows and the weather was great. Friday night downtown was cool, this was a nice event.

  12. Had a great time again this year! We missed the Friday night, downtown, gathering last year but we made it this year and really enjoyed it. It was nice to see the local law enforcement and fire fighters out looking at the rides and talking with people, they seemed to be enjoying it (the ones we saw and spoke with anyways) as opposed to just being there bc they had to direct traffic. Just an great atmosphere. I do wish there had been a few more kustoms in the "feature cars" arena though. Can't wait for next year but won't be eating at Nimbeaux's!

We need to start up a places to eat thread next year like has been done for Austin in the past. I found some I cant wait to get back to and some I would pass on for sure. I will say Double Tree hotel took good care of us and the staff was super nice. Night well lit parking area for everyone's rides.

I browse here from time to time and as a local to Lafayette I figured I'd sign up to help. First, thanks to all who put this show on, I was unable to make Downtown Alive on Friday night this year but went last year and loved every minute of it. The show itself it is very laid back with some quality of vehicles rarely seen at car shows around here, I had a few other things going on this weekend so was only able to spend about an hour walking around at the show but I hope Bayou Roundup is here to stay.

As far as places to eat I'll list a few that are pretty good, if some of you are returning next year maybe you can bookmark this list.

    Seafood places

Don's Downtown (301 E Vermilion St, Lafayette, LA) The few times I've been it's always been a bit of an older crowd but the food has always been pretty good. It's right where Downtown Alive takes place on Friday night.

Riverside Inn(240 Tubing Rd, Broussard, LA) Place has been around since the 40's and probably the best seafood/cajun place in the area.
Regatta Seafood and Steakhouse(508 Hawkeye Ave, Lake Arthur, LA) This one is a bit out the way but would be worth checking out for the guys on Sunday heading back west. From Lafayette you can take some backroads the whole way there or it's about 15 miles off I10. Good seafood place with a huge back deck overlooking Lake Arthur.

    Other personal favorites worth noting

Agave Mexican Restaurant(200 E Vermilion St, Lafayette, LA) It's across the street from where Downtown Alive is held on Friday, the food is decent but they have outdoor seating and a band on Friday and Saturday night so it's a decent place to go when Downtown Alive finishes up.

La Pagua Mexican Restaurant(5425 Johnston St, Lafayette, LA) Best Mexican food in town

Deano's Pizza(305 Bertrand Dr, Lafayette, LA)

Johnson's Boucaniere(1111 St John St, Lafayette, LA) BBQ

Olde Tyme Grocery(218 W St Mary Blvd, Lafayette, LA) Best Poboy in town A

Pop's Poboys(740 Jefferson St, Lafayette, LA) Best Poboy in town B

Boudin/Cracklins- Run over to Scott, LA west of Lafayette, there's Don's, Billy's or The Best Stop. Really can't go wrong at either place.
