I am sure the new owner would LOVE to hear from him. Myself, I'd be interested in some of the technical aspects of the build, such as the paint: Blue Flake, or Candy Blue over Silver flake? I'm only providing the paint job on this old custom, not a huge part of the rescue/restoration/build.

Here's some additional photos (because I needed the hood on the car) with some details. The trim for the rear scoops are original from Barris' shop!

Edited because I forgot a photo.

As other have said, it's our history. I love it, and remember looking at in the mags when I was a youngster. Made a big impression on me. I think I realized what the term 'Custom" meant when I started buying little books in 1962 at the age of 10.
Some of us haven't learned that yet.

The owner of the car gave the ok to get started. The first order of business was to separate the body from the chassis. Since the nose is molded in and we didn't want any damage a support structure was fabricated for keeping the body stable. The lift was used to pull the body up and away. The chassis is in great condition. The owner will refurbish the chassis himself, along with the flat head engine. The body will be painted back on the chassis, but for now it is on a wooden frame where we will do all the sanding and bodywork.

Got to admit it's a radical 60's custom, for sure.
Wonder what folks were saying about it when it first appeared on the scene?

I don't necessarily have a horse in this race as the car is outside my era of experience. But, I like the way in which the envelope was pushed every which way when this was built.
