Local Melbourne, FL, cruise brought out this Barris-built coupe. Just out of decades-long Florida storage. New owner believes 327 is original to the car.

@hrm2k thats not the same car. Different headlights, grill and this car is a small block.

all the same the chances that both of them are just cars George’s charged money to sign are pretty high.

both are still cool cars though

  6. Anybody have a general idea of just how many vehicles were customized in the Baarris shop?

Any idea how many Barris crests were duplicated? Kurt McCormack among others had them made.

wonder if it really is a barris car. decades ago, there was a local fella who made copies of the barris crest and was selling them. george was NOT amused!

There is a H. A. M. B. member that can possibly sell you a possible original crest. Not too long ago I found this during a web search. :D

the original crests were held on with 2 nuts, there will be holes in the car where it is mounted, the repop crests are put on w double faced tape

  14. Provenance. Very important in this area. Barris built, Von Dutch work etc. Unless it's an already well documented and known car, provenance is needed before I'd believe what a seller or new owner 'believes.'

Guess you'll need to get a bore scope, slide it through a crack and look for two nuts.

Actually looks like it’s on the dash which is an odd place for it based on real Barris cars. Stick
Your head under and look, no tools required

These days, people are claiming "Barris built" probably more often than ol' George himself did! ;):D
Cool car, regardless of who built it.

  19. The repops that Kurt McCormick and Barris made had two mounting pins as well so having mounting bolts doesn't make it an original Barris crest.

I had never seen a crest put on the dash before, most were on the lower part of the front fender

I knew it wasn't a "Barris Car" car as soon as I saw the picture.

Not everything our dear George did was iconic or demanding excess value. How much bread n butter work do we think came outta there? I'd bet a whole lot. Maybe he just painted the car. Maybe he just did a simple mod. They're not all Hirohata or Ala Cart. Don't mean to take a leak on the shop floor here, but as a shop owner I know you have to keep the lights on. Like a dog without a bone or an actor out on loan...

Another guy with the last name of Barris.

    . . . 327 original to the car."

I thought that model came with a flathead V-8.
