Have a friend that actually was bidding by using another friend that was at the auction. He was on vacation in europe so the one there was taking bidding instructions from the guy in europe who was watching the TV to make it all happen. This is actually fairly common for guys who can't make it there in person.

 

One in 10 maybe.....I hope he got a nice car!!!!

 

The best part is, his hotel is overlooking a Topless beach and he got , umm distracted, and missed the bid as it ended. His wife laughed hysterically at him.

I haven't watched any of this auction. After seeing some previous ones, I don't think I could stand to hear "numbers matching" or "this car's a hotrod" any more. A bunch of people with too much money turning nice cars into nothing but "collectibles" for the ultra rich.

Geez I don't need a excuse to drink, or to watch the auction, and no apologies for either - Want your perspective on the auction coverage changed? Just watch the pool video feed off their site, rather then the TV coverage, I watch the over head shot, no commentators, commercials, no panning to guys with glasses and hair systems, or bid assistants, or bidders, no nauseating moving camera shots down the side of the car for no reason, you are a fly on the wall as it were - And you see ALL the cars sold during the TV time slot, not just those considered worthy by the producers for on-air selling - I'm enjoying it a lot more this way - TV is still on, but vol is off - I glance back and forth -
