I like the wheels it's got on it, are they the original wheels or from something else?

Was looking some more at them, looks like the fronts and backs are different or maybe it's a trick of the dirt.

Those are the same wheels front to back, I just put a hubcap on the right front. Does anyone know anything about this convertible top? Is it even a factory framework? Like I mentioned earlier, the frame work that spans the window openings actually folds in toward eachother. The car didn't come with a header board, but I assume it had to have had one. If it did, it must have been removable. Does anyone have some pics of '39 tops?

That's such a cool car. It's great that you got it. Mine's currently stashed in a barn.

    Man,what a find n what a lovely car.......:)
Really liking the rear end treatment too, didnt like the sound of the filled lid but it lends a smoothness of form,if not being particularly practical i guess! I'm with Sled on liking the exhausts poking outta the fenders.....i say keep the bumpers tho! Any pics of your ride in the background here? Oh,and if you ever get bored n fancy selling the vert, put me down for joining the loooong list huh lol:D just cant go buy a car with style like that. Good luck to you dude n keep with the updates:)

  17. Frickin killer find!!!
I'd leave it as is and drive it.
The only thing I'd do to the car in the future is chop it and drive it some more. Do the uphulstery some day and just keep it alive and drive it!

Great find....... not many like that around. A question..I thought 39's had the windshiled wipers on top of the windshiled and the 40's from the bottom. I could be wrong, but could it be a 40 with 39 parts?

'39 convertibles had them down below, at least from all the pictures I have seen. The body is definitely a '39 because it had a rumble seat, and '39 was the last year with it.

You gotta get that running, and go give the old guy a ride in it.
    Nice score.

Hey great find. The tin will live again.
And I agree you should give the old gentleman a ride.

  26. The center section with three ribs looks identical to the one on my stock '54 Pontiac....and so does the rear bumper.

I think I might have figured out the top, but I want to see if anyone of you can confirm it. Like I mentioned earlier, it's missing the header board and the top has been welding on some. It looks like the framework that spans the window openings folds in towards the center of the car. Then, it folds back onto itself so that the header board basically just slides back. It's pretty much just a scissor action. Can anyone confirm this?
