Did you get your hood opened? If the cable is broken, there is an access hole in the firewall covered with a rubber plug right under the latch assembly.

There's a guy by the name of Earl Sheib who can take care of that paint job that seemed like a good idea in 1976. Looks like a pretty solid '57 Ford, and at least the weird paint helped to keep it from rusting.
But does he still have it? I saw it at the Columbus Super Swap also. Just wondering what happened to it.
i DO BELIEVE IT HAS TO BE A RETRACTABLE HARDTOP BECAUSE OF THE THICK "POST" IN THAT ONE PHOTO. GREAT FIND.
