You've already got all of the suggestions you need. My suggestion is GO SLOW with the modifications, sometimes less is more. Flatty V8, juice brakes, drive. After that GO SLOW.:D

Don't cut it up. Put in the flatty, juice the brakes, new rubber and drive it.

A few years ago a friend gave me a '70 Honda CB 750. It all started with a "Hey! You want an old Honda?" He lived in Whittier so I drove over to collect it. He was the original owner and rode it until the helmet law came in to effect and he didn't want to wear a helmet so he parked it on his patio. When I saw it I thought what had I let myself in for?

Buddy's idea was that I cut it up and make a dry lakes racer out of it. But looking past the bird droppings and spider webs there was a 99 1/2% original, unmolested bike. The phrase "Its only original once" kept ringing through my head. I got it running and rode it for a spell. I couldn't bring myself to hack it up and it sits in the garage awaitin its turn to be restored.

I hope you can do the same. That Ford is too original and unmolested to be hacked up. Somebody told me there is a special spot in hell reserved for people who hack up very original cars and bikes.

Sweet truck, man. Appreciate the fact it will miss the sawzall - congrats to you. If ya wanna leave off the boards and fenders, it makes killer rooster-tails in the rain.
