About 3 years ago I bought a small 10 acre farm.
The previous home owner told me alot about the house, barns & about the property. He stopped over the other day so I showed him my 33 project.
He says you didn't need to buy that car, there is a model T buried in front of the barn.

So now I keep looking at my shovel.....

Encapsulated in cosmoline and buried in a water proof vault, preserved as a time capsule for the future. That's a joke at the expense of the 57 Plymouth

Do you have or know anyone who has a metal detector? That would tell you all you need to know.

At some time about Lady Bird Johnson's cleanup campaign, people started to improve the looks of their farm property. Probably because the roads had improved and others were driving down the road in front of their house. They installed storm windows, put vinyl or aluminum siding on AND they buried their junk. Lots of junk went into ravines to stop erosion. Where I lived in Colorado, they used a bull dozier
and dug a long trench. Then, they took the junk/abandoned cars in town and put them in the trench. To make stuff fit better, they were smashed as flat as possible...not much useful remained. Same for the T.....unless they were having fun digging, the car was flattened before going into the hole. Buried cars are everywhere.....in a million years, they will be mined for iron ore.

ha ha ...my parents bought the house i grew up in right around 1973, when i was about 25 i was visiting and a couple older gentlemen pulled in the driveway and approached us as we were sitting on the 16' x 30' deck enjoying the weather . the first guy speaks up and says his cousin used to own the place and wanted to know if we found any old engines when we were digging to build the deck . turns out there were a couple 426 Hemi motors buried with plastic wrapped around them and burlap around that then set in a wood crate right about under where that deck was . when my parents bought the house they had only been buried about 3 years but the day those guys stopped by was 28 years later , and now its been another almost 15 years since then!!

oh and just because you have a T buried in front of the barn doesn't mean you shouldn't have bought that old 33 :)

Lots of people. They were just old junkers to someone at sometime.

There's lots of poor vehicles from the 20's/30's/40's lying in ravines around here.
