Just picked up a '32 Ford Tudor Sedan, I figured you guys would like to here about it, here is the story:
<O:p</O:pI drove one of the old cars in the 4th of July parade with our local club, then met up with my Mom at the carnival in town. She introduced me to this retired couple that lives down the street, and right away the lady started talking about my car and she seemed to be very interested in old cars. I mentioned this observation to her, and she told me that she had a '33 Ford, that her uncle had bought new, and that it was still all original, never been painted or anything. She said that she no longer had a place to keep it, so she gave it to her brother, and he started it up about once per year and drives it around the block and then puts away for another year. Well that sounded like a really cool story and a really cool car, but with it being a family heirloom, I did not ask her if it was for sale.

<O:p</O:pThe following week I was over at Mom's fixing her roof, and I asked to mention to the lady next time she sees her that if they ever decided to part with the car, I would be interested. She said, what a coincidence, they had asked Mom, "I wonder if Joel would ever be interested in buying the Ford?" <O:p</O:p
So I ended up going over there yesterday, and found that it is a '32, not a '33, 4 banger, and definitely all original. The owner told me that his uncle drove it daily up into the late 50's, but it has only been driven occasionally since. It has the original owners manual, crank, tool kit, and a garbage can full of spare parts including some NOS stuff.

    <O:p</O:p
He was going to sell his house and move into a condo, and had no place to put the car, so he would sell it. I made an offer that I thought was fair, he said he’d let me know the next day. So today he called, and counter offered a little higher. I accepted, then we went over there and I drove it home. It drives OK, not great, the brakes are a little scary, but they work. It runs pig rich and doesn’t idle down real good, and the horn honks when I floor the clutch pedal.

    <O:p</O:p
Then I had to drive my son here to the shop so he can mow the lawn, so I haven't had a chance to really dig into it yet, but I'm thrilled about it. Don't know for sure what to do with it, I suppose just keep it like it is but make sure it is safe and reliable and running good.

  8. That is beautiful!! Best of luck with it.

  9. I agree with Dyna Flash 8. If any thing maybe some speed parts on the banger but nothing else. The mechanical brakes will work fine.

It has ancient Wards Riverside Knobby tires on the back, but they are holding up good! These things must be at least 55 years old.

I have a '29 Dodge DA sedan that could be his brother, same condition. I did the brakes and tires, I am ONLY cleaning and polishing, no paint. Color me jealous!

I can't wait to get back home and dig thru the pile of parts, and start looking this car over a lot better. I'm getting even more enthused about it just sitting here at work looking at you guys responses!

That's real nice. I'm hoping there'll be a '32 Tudor in my life soon.

If it is bogging and running rich, check to see if the float has sunk in the carb - my banger pickup carb had a tiny split in the float and it was slowly filling with fuel.

  22. veeeeeery nice, well done.

  23. No juice brakes! No v/8. You should post this on the Ford Barn.

NICE! Every 4-6 weeks another "Barn Find '32" hits the HAMB. I'd find a nice pair of used bumpers and stock headlight lenses and get it running and stopping well and just enjoy it.

  29. Don't do any thing but drive it and enjoy it! And of course make the rest of us jealous

  30. So,I take it that this is the car you were talking about yesterday,,you scored HRP
