A couple of months ago, Hotrod-Linkin had a thread about this '36 cabriolet uncovered that had been boarded up in this old house since 1951. It was a mild, mild custom....you know a tail dragger with a chrome dash and garnish, along with all of the catalog add-ons. Now I love '36 fords....especially cabriolets and roadsters. I've been after one for years. Came close to getting my hands on one twice including losing one to Django in a eBay bid slug-fest. Well, Hotrod-Linkin put me in touch with the fellas that uncovered this car. Surely they wont part with this rust free cream puff with a perfect body, perfect fenders, grill etc.....but I had to try. The first answer was no, but a week later I get this email saying yes and for a price far cheaper than I thought. I brought her home, struggling whether or not to restore her to her custom days or to do what I do best, give it that hot rod stance. No progress pics to show, but here are a couple of before pics and where she is now. To keep me focused on getting my roadster on the road, my buddy Keith Sutton along with Danny and the boys at Bruce's Rod shop gave me this hotrod flavor. Still a long ways to go, but thought I'd post something on the car. No need to debate on the direction I'm taking this car....It's what I've always wanted to do. Plus, I have all of the old stuff tucked away in case I ever change my mind. Before:
Nice find. One of the guys around here found one, unrestored "barn find". Fired right up and he drives it. He likes to go to car shows and park next to restored 36' cabriolets with a 4 sale sign on it, even though the car is not for sale. Its got some outragious price on it as a joke.
wow, clean up a buff the paint out and drive as it, nothing beat a car that is soo original. and you have original photos that go to it. KEEP AS IS, HAVE FUN DRIVING
there's been some pretty incredible barn finds posted on the hamb,,but im pretty sure that's my favorite,,,,,,, man,,that thing is just perfect,,,totally love it
FANTASTIC.............You must be a great guy ...your Karma has GOT to be over the TOP............. God and finding something like this is why I try soooo hard, Good Luck (like you need it) to ya and enjoy!
i found one by chance a few years ago, went to look at a stomp sheer and the guy had one sitting in his garage. i had just sold a merc for 17k and the guy wanted 14k for it. i just paid my parents back 2k and i had to make a house payment.. so i could of bought it but would of been pennyless!! told my buddy about it and we went back the next day and got it. he has kinda went the streetrod direction with it so it just sits at my shop for now waiting its turn to be worked on..sometimes i wish i went pennyless route good score id just drive the hell out of it...
