Banjo rearend noise

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Kellys Hot Rod Parts, Mar 27, 2011.

  1. My car has a fresh 36 ford banjo rearend with 9" ford axles. The rearend whines at highway speeds but seems fine when you let off the trottle no clunking of any kind. I 'm thinking the pinion needs to be set. What is involved and where do I get the specs? Any help would be appreciated.....Kelly

See above for some info that might help. Posted this up when I was helping my dad with a busted axle in his banjo.

When the rearend went together did it have new gears installed or used gears?

Did the Bells get shimmed (With shimable gaskets)? Or did gaskets just get installed and the bells get bolted up?

Was a pattern check on the gear set done before final assembly?
