I have been looking at this truck in my neighbors yard for 5 years. when I first asked him about it, it was the same old story, some day I'll restore it.but said he would sell it for 3,000. I was talking to him a couple weeks ago and offered him a grand.I now own a 40 chevy truck. It will make a nice room mate for our 39 sedan.

The AD trucks are nice, but these...are where its at. Nice score. Hope you get it rolling soon. I'll bet it runs, too with a little effort.

Nice find at a grand. Around here my friends and I would be thrilled to find projects like that. As they say on the auction shows, "Well bought".

Good score. Some day my dad and I will finish the 40 that my grandfather bought brand new in 40. Chev's of the 40's will be your new best friend.

got some spare time so I broke out all my implements of destruction ( grinder, sawsall, cut off wheels and a full can of PB blaster) and started some tear down.I want to tear it all down and start with boxing the frame.and install a 4 link. I have set of ladder bars that I might use.

this is the engine I want to use.I have this 327 that we kept out of the ot drag car we sold to build our 39.It is an 11:1 comp. solid lifter cam motor with a 3000 rpm stall conv and turbo 350. would like to run a 4 speed if I can find one for a decent price. I have a disc brake rear end that I wanted to use but it may be to wide.

Time for an update. Finally decided what I was going to do with this truck, started working on it last may. I decided to shorten and lower it.after I got it striped down to the frame I cut 22 inches out of the frame .later I will cut 21" off the front of the bed,( more on that later). It worked out that the rear section off frame over laped to make a cool joint, I will box the inside of the rails later. and built a cart to roll the cab around on.

Would have been much more aesthetically pleasing full-fendered and stock bodied, with all that SBC & 4 speed underneath...8.8 inch Ford rear has disc brakes, CHEAP. Good ratios and narrow.
Hope you're not de-fendering and channeling it...

it will have fenders and running boards. not building a ratrod! this is getting ahead of the build thread but this is a pic of the mockup I did to set wheel base.

Sorry, 'Rider...my ambiguous imagination began to run away with me when you mentioned the amount of length you removed from the bed!
Nice proportions now, perfect Smallblock combo!
Nice geometry on the rear installation...Kickup will allow use of the bed.
