  1. The plan is a late fifties early sixties style outlaw style modified stockcar.

  4. Not much to report, however I did bring the frame inside. I am on the fence as to build the truck or do it as a stockcar. I probably mock the cab up to see how much room I will have.

I ran out of hooks the U.S. flag is folded and no longer just flopped on the ladder!

I even have H.A.M.B. friendly jackstands!

  5. I have a guy coming next week to look at the electrical work in the garage, then my cousin is going to help me finish the inside.

I brought the cab inside. I love hearing California guys complaining about rust.

How does an aluminum flywheel perform on the street? Or, is this a race-only car you are building?

  12. This was going to be an East coast style hot rod, but my plans have changed. I want to build an late 50's early 60's outlaw style stock car.

So many of the parts I have would fit this build.
These are Buick rims widened to 10" for stock car racing, but never finished.

My home place territory is across the Susquehanna River from The Five Mile Point Speedway, near Binghamton, NY. I can still hear those stock cars in my mind from Friday nights long ago!

  14. I live about half way between Albany and Binghamton, about 30 miles east of Oneonta.
I have never been to any of the southern tier tracks.
I always went to the capital region tracks, Fonda, Lebanon Valley ect

My dad crewed on Bill Roese's 56 Ford that ran Fonda and Mid-State in Morris N.Y.

I think your history is top flight, however, you know you would get so much more windshield time in the hot rod version. Tough choice.

  16. Yes, @Cosmo49 but I already have a 261 powered 53 Chevrolet 150.

HOT DAMN! I can't wait to see it! Put some glass and lights on it and you're legal!

  18. I took a few days a away from the H.A.M.B.
I have decided not to waste my time with threads of people I don't know, and to focus on my own build.

I built a gas tank with my time off-

  19. Ever work with people who don't understand "If it's not yours leave it alone!"
Most of the 60 I work with are good but we have a couple-

I walked away and left every thing on my bench, when I came back the cap was on tight!

  20. so what happened? did someone screw it on too tight and you had to cut it off?

  21. Yes and still hot, I don't know who.
I have extra parts, cut it out and do it again.

Not happy about it, but ranting and raving isn't going to help.

  22. Man that sucks glad you were able to repair / replace it nice work on the tank. Hobo Jim

  23. I haven't fixed it yet, next week.

  24. Things are going to get rolling here in about the next month, but in the mean time a little more showing off.

I picked up this old drilled axle from @ratrodcentral a few year ago, which I plan on running.

6-4-2008 001.jpg Now all you need to do is open up the holes a bit and drill more holes between the ones there.

  26. I like your axle but I am going to leave mine as is.

It was drilled 30 (or more) years before I was born. In my eyes it is part of history, it would be like changing the smile on the Mona Lisa.

  27. Hey Robert,
Nice to see Bruce's parts living on.
I knew him about 45 years!
Parts passed between us several times
    over those years.
Always considered him a friend and one
    of a kind.
    RIP Bruce!

Thank you to Derrick Frank for turning the end of the pipe nipple.

  29. Well no turning back now. The model A cab is on it's way to Maine.

@Rootie Kazoootie just posted this photograph in the vintage shots thread. Pretty much nails what I want to build. I think the engine is a 223 (262?) Ford six. The intake does not look G.M. and Chevy/Jimmy 6's only have four exhaust ports not six.
