Zander came over with his dad today.
First thing..."Hey! Mr. Rick! I saw your pimpin'...um, your pimpin'..."
    I said, "My pimpmobile?"
    He said, "Yeah!"
We laughed and went out to look at it.
Anna had shown Z pictures...before it was taken apart. Now, as you know, the whole front end and engine and trans are removed.
"Holy COW!!! It looks like a RAT ROD now!!!
    I didn't correct him...yet.
He did show genuine curiosity. He asked,
"What is it again, Mr. Rick?"
    That's a start...lol.
I asked him, "After we put the minibike together, will you help me build the Chrysler?"
His eyes got a little big and his eyebrows went up...as if he had to process what I just asked him...lol...and without saying anything just kind of smiled and shook his head "yes".
    I don't have any kids........ ;) :)

All of our kids are grown now and spread all over the country, from Sacramento to Connecticut, and of course the grandkids are gone along with them. We thought about doing some mentoring, but have not carried through with that yet. I am happy for you that you have found a buddy there to pal around with. Having lost my dad at an early age, I will bet he is happy to have you for a buddy too. Good on you all.

Some of you might wonder about the deer. Judy has 5 of 'em. All either rescued orphans or born here.

And Snowman...Jim. Thanks. Gonna be a little different without Sandy along to enjoy it. To sit in the shop and just read a book or something so we can hang out while I work on it. And tell me how she likes the smell of the oil and grease. And slide over next to me as we're cruisin' along and wrap her arms around me as she overly-dramatically and comically exclaims, "Oh Ricky...!!!"
    Sorta like "Oh Moondoggy...!!!"
Cracked me up first time she did that.
Anna and Z will certainly ride along.
Just gotta be a little careful with Anna.
    She's kinda brittle!

Just saw this thread. Glad you are back and have found (refound?) our hobby. All great journeys start with the first step. You sir have done just that . Enjoy the journey, kids, friends, and cars.

    Thanks, hr1948. I am.
Thanks to you and everybody who posted. Thanks for the great "welcome back" and encouragement and stuff.

I'll post a build thread soon. Might be a good idea to get something done first. Or...I guess I could post a tech-thread and show how to scrape grease and crud from a chassis...lol.
    Later!!! - Rick

I love that, not that I need a intro to a scraper, exact same area I am on with my project.

Well then...knowing you're doing the same, I won't feel so alone under there, LC.
I sorta enjoy it. I'm real comfortable with mindless work...lol. Acually, it's kind of fitting that it's the first step...cuz it gives us a chance to get real familiar with every part of the chassis and under-body.
    Scrape away!

  21. The first thing I did with my Ford was to put it high on 4 jack stands and pressure wash the spider nests out from under it, I still managed to get bit somehow... Stripped the front end down to the frame rails, de-rusted everything in citric acid, wire-wheeled everything else and threw some paint on the chassis. Nicer to work on something clean now and then.

  22. Glad you are back in the game and that's a fine project. You should be a "motor-vational" speaker - I like the way you think .....

Haven't been on here in a while so missed this thread. Great to see you back in the light again. I am doing much the same as you. I picked up the shell of a 1949 Dodge Coronet that was bound for the scrap heap. Chopped it and then sectioned it.LOL
I figured that at least I saved it from getting scraped for a while. Wether I finish it or not isn't even the point.
    Keep on keeping on brother....

  25. Nice car that deserves a nice Mopar engine. I scrapped a 54 Imperial 4-door for the 331 engine, which i wouldn't have scrapped if it was 2 door HT.
    Good luck with it.

Oh yeah, and buy a membership to the hamb so I can be a full-fledged member again.

Then I'll do show and tell.

    Thanks for asking, Danny.
    I'm looking forward to it.
