Here's some pics of the '34 Ford with it's new Astro chrome slotties. Only up front for now until I find a matching set for the back. Anyone got any for sale? I need 5x8 or wider in 15" with 5x5 bolt patterns.
I think they'd look better with blackwalls.
I'm gonna get some bullets for center caps for 'em in Daytona.
D'ya like 'em, yay or nay?

I also painted my Shannon cones red, I think they look a lot better like that, plus the Taiwanese shit chrome was pitting bad. BTW the suckers aren't even 3 years old, they turned bad within a few months.

It's off a Ford Popular, Anglia to Yankees. It had to be slitted and widened to fit over the Deuce radiator. It was the wife's idea, I like it. I ran it with a '33 grille for a while but I put this one back on. It looks more streamlined and dare I say ....evil.

Do they make you turn in your Florida drivers liscense and escort you to the state line, in exile, when you renounce the glory of the Chrome Smoothie?

Katzenhammer, just barely. I took a cut off wheel and slit it down about 8 inches then I made some cross cuts across the vertical slit. It split it just enough to slip over the radiator. Then I made mounts to bolt it to the radiator and I tack welded it together. I took it off and solidly welded it up. It was an easy job. I had to make filler pieces for the sides because the radiator was visible with the grille's original contours.
Funny thing is after I was done I was thinking what an original idea, then two months later there was a picture of a Deuce from the 70s with the same grille.
Just goes to prove there's nothing new under the sun.

wes, I can't tell you how much your comment means to me, it was/is a labor of love.

BTW I need some stainless trim for the two holes in the grille if anybody's got some.

I totally agree with everyone about how bitchin the car is. Always dug it...

Hows the rear suspension holding up? Have you noticed any problems with that angle on the hair-pins? Ride?

I've heard the ride can be harsh and bind can build up, wanted to know what your experiences have been.

40Phil she's sorted out good now. I do have to remove some leaves from the spring pack, it's way too stiff. I did have to chop out the center section of my shock mount in the back after the pinion angle was sorted. I really need to triangulate the mount and get rid of the center section completely, it still bottoms out on bad bumps.
    The front end works beautifully.

Nads, I kinda like the miss-match set, looks cool. I agree with the blackwalls, though, 'cause your car is pretty mean lookin', and the whites kinda pansie it up! [IMG]

It's gonna be 60s style all the way, gold metalflake, 60's style.
Maybe some deep green metalflake scallops too. Don't laugh we did a Mini way back in the 70s with that color scheme and it looked great. The dude's girlfriend crashed it going to the fish'n'chip shop in my old homeland. We had to repaint the whole thing again, I wonder where it is now?

Nads, I'm sure yer tired of hearing it but, yep, that's a badass car!! It's a feeble effort but here's (sorta) what it would look like with blackwalls.

Donzie, I can dig it, it will go the way of the blackwall.
Except that blackwall bias plys are almost as expensive as whitewalls. Ain't no way it's getting radials, hell no!

That car is tough looking..even with the wide whites. If you do go gold metal flake then the White walls will look even better... Looks bad ass as it is too..
