Some of you may remember my 1928 coupe I built a few years ago.

    Original post here:
    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=420182

There were a few limitations when I was building it that I had to compromise on due to finances etc

Anyhow after a couple seasons in the road I've finally got them underway and almost complete

First up was to swap the late model LT1 engine for a '64 327 I had acquired while I was building the car . I had it rebuilt, put a mild solid lifter cam in it and topped it off with a weiand 4x2.

Next was to swap the front disc to MT Lincoln drum brakes. I also bought another set of hubs to run be able to run a different wheel and tire setup.

I'm currently waiting to receive my wheels back from powdercoat and waiting on rear tires from Coker(7.00-18's)

Will be running 16" wires with 4.50/4.75's up front and 18" wires in the rear with the old tread pattern. 7.00's

    Here's a few mockup pics:

I also did some general cleaning and repainting of some parts.

Have a little re-wiring to do to accommodate the powergen and get the radiator, grille shell and headlights back on and she should be ready to roll again!

    Thanks guys!

Got it back in the ground and running pretty good. Waiting for some new front brake hose and should be able to get it out for a drive

Here's a pic all together in some better light:

Nice work on the rebuild / detailing. The engine looks very nice. Just wondering, how tall are the rear tires you have on it now (in the pix above)? Tires sizes don't compute to inches that rapidly in my old noggin. I tried to revisit your old thread, but the link only came up as an error... was I the only one? Later, Gary

I'm not sure what's up with my build thread it shows for me, but I've had a few say it doesn't.

Those rear tires measure about 32.50" vs about 31" on the 7.50 16

Thanx. They don't look all that big to me. Most of the guys I speak to about rear tire height (the size I'm looking for, anyway) usually say around 31" - which seems to fill up the wheel well nicely - the best you can anway trying to get the round tire into the squashed shape of the car's wheel wells. But I might try 32'!!! Who knows. Gary

    Thanks
Gary you should be able to "squish" them in there depending , this on a model a? What frame?

I don't have but a few miles on the new tires, maybe a couple hundred on new motor. Probably 2000-3000 since I built it (still haven't hooked up the speedo) that's next on my list lol

No worries, I'm building the frame for my A coupe. Two other factors are that I'm also thinking of shortening the wheel base to 100" which may or may not involve shifting the axle forward in the wells as part of the process. Time will tell. Gary
