Interior has been stripped and safely stored; a few parts - FE/FC headlight rims, clock, steering wheel, triple carbs etc - have been sourced locally and from the US. When we get a little more time and room we will pull the engine and transmission for a rebuild, then probably remove the remains of the bodyshell, remove and store saveable panels and custom items, then restore the rest of the running gear.
Lately my time has been more or less fully occupied restoring the Ford Zephyr based running gear for a Buckle Coupe, this one owned by the creator of 23 of these in the late'50's - Bill Buckle.
We WILL post some photos when the final body strip takes place, to show te extent of the rust..........pretty depressing as it is but we have "the vision"!!!
I was at Heathcote the day Marks Fiat died and have seen the remains of the Arab scattered through sheds over the years. At one stage my dad had the Y Block out of it back in a Customline.
New Repco Heads are in production, you can get them if your keen enough to spend the $$ They are being cast in alloy.
Nearly every single Dunstan is still around. Upto around 26-30 where 20 have been accounted for.
The original prototype surfaced recently. This head was made in 6 pieces. It was in a raceing boat and was sunk in the late 50's the boat was destroyed in a race. The engine was retried from the lake and was stored away till 2015 where it found a new owner in S.A. It is in the process of a full resotration and hopefully will start this year ( 2016 ).
This may or may not be the same one. But it is in fact a 12 port Vauxhul head on a Holden Grey motor.
