Event Coverage Austin HAMBers: Caravan Rollin' To The Show, Billetproof, TX!!

Attention Austin HAMBers. . .​

After talking to a couple of the car clubs here in town, we've made plans to caravan out on Saturday, July 25th. . .So far the VooDoo Dolls, Kreatures and Strugglers are planning on rollin' out together. . .

So far we've got approximately 15 cars in the caravan, and we'd love to have more!!

We will be meeting at:

Fran's Hamburgers
6214 Cameron Road
(right off of 290, just east of I-35)
at 9:00 a.m.
on Saturday, July 25th​

Well.. This sounds WAY to much fun to miss... think we are going to scrap our plans to go out there on Friday night. Can we get a burger for B-fast at Fran's?

I think we should have PLENTY of room. . .we've even got a couple of "chase" cars following, with tow bar and tools, just in case. . .

Think with all the "I'm Ins" it looks like 18-20 cars. . .I'm sure we can find ya a seat

 

Yep, the Kreatures talked about that on Thursday at our meeting. We'll be rollin' out there with the Strugglers, too. I think we'll have about 6 cars on Saturday. Can't wait!!!

 

If not, you can always eat a Lonestar for the drive, right, Javier????

 

Yep, Dustin is bringing his tow bar. It's the same one we used to pull home Norm's late Falcon from the day of the drags when he broke the yoke on his diff. Two or three of the Kreatures' will have trucks to pull with.

I was supposed to ride with one of the Kreatures, but I might take my truck & trailer incase someone needs a lift back to civilization. I just don't want to spend the money on diesel, haha. We'll see.

 

We are going to try to shoot the cruise for our up coming film. Can't wait!!

 

Strugglers are in, looking like 5 cars for sure at this point...

 

about how far is the drive from austin to the show......

 

45 minutes. . .mas o menos. . .we'll be leaving right around 9, should put us at the Fireman's Park no later than 10 (gates open at 9, for anyone who wants to bypass the caravan and get there earlier). . .

VooDoo Dolls will have either 3 or 5 cars. . .waiting to see if the final 2 can get on the road. . .fingers crossed. . .

Gotta finish up our club trophy tomorrow, and bringing a special East Coast guest along with me for the ride . . .Looks like this is gonna be hella fun!!!

 

Won't make it for the caravan, but I think I'm going to be able to make it out there in the afternoon. Is there a plan for after the show? Are people doing anything in Giddings or are they coming back to Austin?

 

There is going to be an after party in Giddings somewhere I here , they havent said where yet.Ill probably split back to town though.

Still haven't heard word about the after party yet. . .I know a few people are staying over in Giddings, but the vast majority of us will be crusin' back to Austin after the awards ceremony/whenever the hell it cools down. . .

Leisure Lanes Bowling Alley

(its just west of town, about a mile from the Faiggrounds)


so here is the deal.. .we are late in getting the word out since the owners of the bowling alley (who are the same ones who throw the doors open to let people in) have been on vacation and have just closed up shop while they are gone. No way to get ahold of them.

BUT, the alley will be open on Sat. night, and boy are they in for a surprise .

So there is a big parking lot to hang out in, they serve beer (at least thats what the signs say) and we can likely put on some music over the PA system (All Ronnie James Dio, All Night )

However has the highest score while I'm still there, I'll buy you a beer *

*(offer subject to termination at any time due to my wanting to go to bed early, having drank too much to find way to bar, having drank too much to able to read score sheets, any bitching whatsoever disqualifies you and you

 

I'm down for being a chaser in my daily. Trunk full of tools and ready to burn.

 

I'll be bringing a floor jack, stands, tools and miscellaneous other crap. If anyone finds a need for a jack and stands while we're on the road, just get in touch with me. My cell is 512-366-2504. I think that with all the cars we have rolling, the chase vehicles, a tow bar and all the resident gear heads and their collective tools, we shouldn't have too much trouble.
