Question time again. Who has installed the Flat Head Teds brake kit? I just did the front with the kit and relined the shoes. The fronts were really easy to do, but now it the drums heat up really quick and during braking the car pulls hard to the right. I've adjusted the wedges but I don't want to over adjust them and it seems that they may be because the drums get so hot. Should I adjust the brake rods now that I have some new components up front? I will be doi ng the rear next week.

Did you size the new shoes to the new drum size
Did you center the shoes to the spindle
I just did my brakes with teds stuff I did up grade to 1935 brakes up front and 32 in the rear
Ted is always on fordbarn look up some old post on brakes ask over there and he will chime in

CDO, did you dad blow the mill in the yellow 31CCPU?

It sounded real strong in the video.

I installed Ted's kit only on the front of my '30 Tudor and they work wonderfully.

I always use "Green Gripper" lining, and bond it to the shoes. Use a piece of waxed paper between the drum and the lining, and clamp the shoe, lining and drum together with a C clamp until the epoxy sets. Sounds to me like you didn't arc the shoes to the drum (allowing for the lining thickness), and perhaps the lining has a gap between it and the shoe. Whatever the cause, I'll bet it isn't Ted's fault.

Put the car on 4 jackstands. Adjust the square adjusters on the backing plates so that there is just the lightest drag, then back off one click. Make up an adjustable prop to go from the seat mounting, to the brake pedal, with the pedal down about 3/4". Now, adjust the rods so that you can barely turn the front wneels by hand, and the back wheels have a heavy drag.

Ya, the Rutherford headed B in the 31 P/U. We haven't pulled it yet, but the rear of the block is broken off. No pictures yet.

I posted this on it's own thread, but thought it was appropriate to post again on here as I know some of you chaps only ever look at the monthly Banger thread...

W,ell after a solid few months of work from myself, Max jr. and sr. at H and H Antique, and Logan Davis and Chuck at their new shop "Vintage Performance Automotive", I am happy to report that the new banger is finally together and running in the Bellytank. All test fired and broken in, she's ready to hit the salt. We loaded her in the trailer yesterday and we head out on Wed. Were still running 3 of Clives new Stromberg 97's and the Gemsa overhead cam head, but everything underneath is brand new..... Stronger, lighter etc.
Were hoping for speeds in the 160 + range. Wish us luck !!
    Here's a short video:

  25. Awesome Bobby! Good luck and be safe!

  26. Looking for information about a Kingston Vacuum Fuel Pump on a 29 Plymouth two door sedan. The car is completely stock with the original four cylinder engine. The dump valve will not seat correctly. We think there might be some missing parts.

    Thanks

This is my first post on here. Thought you guys would like to see my banger projects. 20 yrs. old and on the third banger project. Got my coupe when I was 14 and spent two years doing a body off restoration and then started an A speedster. Now working on a T hill climb speedster.
