What year 371? Looks like 57-58. I like the 59-60 blocks better as they are derived from 394s.

  8. Is that motor still technically considered an "early Olds"? haha

I've been 6.90's @ 197 in really good air...made a couple just past the 1/8 runs this past sat to shake the cobwebs off and to look at our cam an fuel system changes.....first run was 7.32 coasting through the 1/4 @ 150 mph...that would have been teens had I run it out....second run was a 7.20@180 ....clicking it off around the 1000 ft mark......we are working hard to run 6.90's in bad air......Going to the HHR in Bowling Green coming up in June.
Going this sat for a quick 8...using this as a test session again..... and Sunday for the nostalgia classic at a local track.

  14. I'd be happy with 6.90's in the 1/8! Getting close.

I had a great fathers days weekend at the HHR with my dad tuning and my daughter taking care of some car duties as well as on track backing me up.

We made it to the second round....ran a 7.153 and lost to a 7.159

Our quickest pass of the wk end 7.102 in 92 degree weather ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1371439447.351355.jpg

Not sure if it would be the first early Olds-powered rail to hit 200 in the 1/4 from a standing start. I've forgotten what the records were over the years.

For lakes racing, I understand that's been done with early Olds engines before. I understood there was a '53 Stude with a 394 hitting something like 220 (?) MPH several years ago. And that might not have been the only one.
