History Article on driving a custom cross country...???

Anyone remember the article on driving a 'custom' cross country back in the late '60s...??? Possibly it was in Rod & Custom mag and I'm thinking the car was a '49 Merc but can't say for certain.

Any help finding the article would be appreciated...

In September 1952 (a full year before the Rod & Custom article) HOP UP magazine published "6000 Miles in a Custom", chronicling Spence Murray's trip to Indy in his chopped '49 Chevy. This opened the door to Murray's career in automotive journalism.

never seen that one very kool. I only knew of the Bob H merc story.

 

I must be getting old, I remember reading that issue. But don't ask me what I had for diner last night.

 

I'm sure the article was more interesting, but DON'T tell the wife!
