Well, I said I was going to start the next challenge on Friday, but I can't wait... here it is. I love lowrider art .. I love to draw them, I love the amount of detail and passion these guys put into their cars. I love the history.. so.. Your mission is to create some lowrider art. Whatever that means to you.. just make it awesome. There are a couple things I want to stress.. 1. Keep the comments to a minimum.. we want more art than talk.. and this is not the place to debate what makes a lowrider or art Positive comments are encouraged.. but please don't quote the picture 2. Only post art that is yours and you created for this challenge. This is the only way to keep it fair for all the art guys. 3. Have fun and push the concept as far as you can. 4. this is the HAMB.. so no DONKS of DUBS please The challenge will go for 4 weeks (March 21), so there's plenty of time to do something incredible. GO!
Ha HA , already got one drawn for once. Drew it in '79, when I had a subscription to Lowrider mag and everything. I believe I was 18 when I drew it.
Juan, some of your posts gave me the idea for this.. so you've already contributed! I'm really looking forward to some great stuff guys!
Prize Announcement!! Our good friend and most awesome Hamber flyingpolock (www.problemchildkustoms.com) has offered up one of his killer shirts to the winner: A very generous offer indeed! If that doesn't get the art out.. I don't know what will
more from flyingpolock http://pckstudio.wordpress.com/2008/...whipped-cream/ Kev, that is super cool.. remember though, the art should be done specifically for the challenge.. I guess it's possible you whipped that out in less than 3 hours, if so I'm super impressed!
I was supposed to do it all vector but couldn´t get the look I was after (still didn´t). And by the time I got to the wheels I was so pissed that I threw some photo wire wheels there. Maybe I´ll get back to it some day.
A friggin "Desoto"? Well at least it has a "Hemi"! What the hell! Heres a preliminary pic! Still workin on it!
Hit the road Jack! A 1937 Lincoln Zephyr has such naturally flowing lines that you can't help but want to turn it into a ground scraping, tail dragging, lowrider. I tried a late model Continental but I wasn't getting a traditional vibe out of it so here's "Black Jack". I think the acid test for doing these art challenges is this... Would you like to own and drive what you design? I would love putting on some Ray Bans, a panama hat, slouching down behind the wheel and just plain go cruising in this one.
GaryC Nice tail dragger! I like the stance. That logo kicks ars! Hey is that Dude the young ZZ Top Bass player? Before he used the hair/beard tonic!
Neal... Hair/Beard tonic... I think pop just went up my nose.... Thanks for the compliment and thanks for the HUGE laugh! Almost forgot...I like wagons... and that DeSoto is sweet. Dual curb feelers send me!
Great stuff so far. Looking forward to some more. Okay, I read the original rules and Nate asked for more than straight photochopping...but I did it anyway. Tried to push it a bit. Before: After:
