I have two original Strombergs on a 286 flathead on a tall Weiand manifold. I had rebuilt them myself and they ran sorta OK, but after five years I sent them to Uncle Max and he made them perfect. Run great for the last ten years now. They have straight linkage, and old chrome bonnet air cleaners with KN filters in them.

I have also been the mechanic for my daughter's '73 MG with dual SU's. I haven't rebuilt them and have never been able to get them to run perfect. It's almost like they speak a foreign language.

I sold this SBC manifold cast for the large Pontiac carbs, I wish I'd kept it. DSC007821.JPG

I always wanted to make a 1/4" return line to the fuel tank coming off the Tri-Powers front and end carbs.. I think this might solve some of the stumbling issues guys having..

Just finished installing triple Holley 94s on my 55 Dodge 270. Manifold is an Offenhauser. First attempt did not work out as the carbs were a hodge podge of parts from different models. Jim Case, East Mesa Auto Electric in Albuquerque rebuilt them correctly using many parts from another Holley. They work well and pleased with the install. I may need to shorten the rod connecting the linkage to the throttle cable, but so far it is working nicely with a straight pull. The chain is for the cruise control. Air filter helmets are empty as there is too much restriction with the filter elements installed. Three Edmonds replica filters have been ordered from O'Brian Trucking. They should provide enough flow being twice as high. Never did a multiple carb install before and most pleased with this one. The engine is in a 32 Coupe 3-window. The car was built by a friend here in Santa Fe. IMG_1319.JPG

I have been using 3 94 carbs for a long time on my 265 sbc. I have used progressive linkage. I have had good luck. The carburetors were made from parts from 10 carburetors.

  9. 370ready.JPG 370dualquads.jpg I've been collecting 3300 and 3326 Carter AFBs for awhile now. Jon, Carbking said they're the ones to use on my setup. I gotta say....I'm a little intimidated with the whole thing. The single 3300 carb on it now has been a little finicky with fuel pressure, Idling fast, then slow etc. I just HATE having my hot rod down during the warm months. I dunno, I suppose I should quit being such a pussy and give it a try but the engine already has a little drama when I lay into it with only 1 carb. It will sputter through 1st gear and then it's all cleaned out and ready to rock....pulls extra hard through 2nd,third and forth gears. I can't run a hotter plug because the Jahns pistons have the " bump" right below the spark plug. I have to run a really cold plug, Been thinking of running an MSD setup to help keep those plugs cleaned.

I'd like to find a used BBC Eldebrock air gap for 2 4's.

Rocky - find a junk (read "donor") AFB with the conventional (non-air bleed) idle. Swipe the curb idle screw and spring. On your 3300, locate the "dimple" on the pump side of the carburetor where the conventional idle screw would be located. Drill through the dimple with a number 21 drill. Tap with a 10x32 tap. Insert the stolen curb idle screw and spring.

Now, reset your idle. Screw the idle mixture control screws clockwise until thumb-tight; back out an initial setting of 1 1/4 turns. Turn the idle air bleed screw (larger center screw) all the way in AND LEAVE IT. Set the idle RPM with your new curb idle screw. Do the same on your proposed dual quad carbs, otherwise build them stock. If you have a really wild cam, you can use the idle air bleed screw as an adjustable idle air bypass.

    Alternatively:

Move out of Nebraska where you can buy real gasoline ;):p:cool: but bring the bakery with you!:D

For those who are unaware, Rocky's family bakery makes the best bread on the planet!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rochesters on an Edmunds 49-53 Mercury intake. Bobby Blake rebuilt. .054 main jets. I thought it might be too rich. Haven't bothered to check the plugs yet. 2021-05-19 14.03.05-1.jpg 2021-05-19 14.03.05-2.jpg Running/starts good. .040" over 8BA with a 59A L100 cam. Duel point crab dist.

IMG_1061.JPG Im running the Inglese induction set up on a 383 I absolutely love it. To me it’s the easiest set up I’ve ran , it’s easy to adjust and jet and it runs like a bat out of hell. IMG_0333.JPG I was running 6 Holly 94’s and it ran pretty good but it was a nightmare getting it set up initially with the linkages and syncing everything.

IMG_1843.JPG This is a basic 3 Rochester set up on an Edelbrock manifold, made to work with the Speedway progressive kit. I used several swap meet carbs and boxes of parts to finally come up with three workable units, re-jetted as per the Speedway kit's instructions. The engine starts insanely quick and idles flawlessly. Driving around normally, it runs like a dream. When I can it, it flutters at first, then off we go, so I need to fiddle with it more to fine tune it. All in all, it's fun and cool looking.

    Real men run multi carbs!!
Took my time and rebuilt these Rochesters from the ground up. New proper bases on the outboards. Have been slowly bumping jet size to get the 409 happy as I started a little too reserved there. Just got this book in the mail yesterday. Can never learn enough!

Don't have any on my 31 A yet but I have these waiting in the wings! Had a question for those in the know. Is it easier/better to put my 3 97's on a single carb intake one at a time and tune each that way or just put the whole thing on and then tune the carbs on the car all at once? I do have a uni-syn (sp?) tool.

I run two 600 Eddy's on my 392. The Progressive linkage works great also.

Over the course of 60yrs. of hot rodding, I have run lots of multi-carbs, from tri-power to cross rams
to dual fours and blower motors. Never, ever had any issues. I learned along the way to just get off my duff and try it. Stopped listening to conventional "wisdom" long ago, and was surprised at how much I learned.
Current car is 425hp 409", starts right up even after sitting for months, idles perfect ever time.

20210601_173725.jpg I'm running two Holley-Weber 5200's on an Edmonds intake on my 292ci Chrysler flathead (bored to 3.520 and stroked to 5.000") in a '36 Dodge coupe. Only have a few miles on it since I installed the engine, but it's impressed me with its torque and responsiveness.

  27. One more, my 53 Merc was running a single 4160 Holley but I went with two 97s on the new engine. Runs great and haven't had to mess with them one bit in two thousand miles.

I have one and I built a full set of the big bases for it (avatar). Those manifolds were actually built by edlebrock for a corvette to run 3x2, that's why they have such a low profile. I don't think performance wise they are anything special, but they do sit low if hood clearance is a problem.
