I,m glad to hear so many guys have the same passion to build hot rods . at 72 I,m still building but keeping up with maintance on 4 others is to much . may have to sell something next spring .builds take longer than only 10 years ago. as long as I can make it the 80 feet to my shop I,ll keep on building . its a great boost to your health to have a passion . 401 didn,t help the budjet++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

  4. I have a friend that has a nice old '46 Ford sedan for many years and for some reason that car spoke to me, I have told him in the past if he ever decides to let it go please call me first and as it always seems to happen I got the call over the weekend.

Great timing, having recently purchased a '50 Ford coupe, Christmas next week, and a mail box full of bills I'm going to have to do some creative financing or sell something.

Why did I have to be born poor and ugly? HRP

I'm 74 and my last project took me 10 years and over 3,000 hrs. This October I sold my 46 Ford Tudor and am not taking on another vehicle project. I going to drive the crap out of my 48 F1 and enjoy it as long as I can.

  12. My wife thinks I'm done after I finish up a few small details on the 34 coupe. I kinda think I'll find something to tinker on. Can't help myself. I love creating neat shit. I really want to do a full custom 38-39 Ford coupe. I keep dreaming about it anyways. We will see. I'm still young enough to get it done. (I think)

My dad is 73 and due to a disability he hasn't been able to drive in 20 years. He sold off all but two of his cars, his model A coupe hot rod he's had since '63 and a '35 cabriolet he restored for my mom in the '70's. He thought he was long done buying cars, but he always wanted a '40 convertible and when a good friend offered this one up for sale last year he made it happen. Here he is the day we picked it up. It's now nosed and decked and lowered. If it's in your blood you're not done until you're in the ground.

^^^ This. Be 76 in a couple of weeks. Got to finish a 40 coupe that is in uph then a 39 woody is coming here for alot of finish work(AC,wiring, lot of detail work, fire it,etc) maybe 2 weeks on the 40 when it returns and a month+ on the woody. After that I don't know but looking at 2 40's out there now and a 36 3 window-maybe good for one more.

I turned 74 in 2018. During that year I bought a '51 Hudson Hornet Hollywood hardtop project
and then sold it when I found a '51 Hornet coupe that I liked better. Also bought a nearly finished '55 Ford Ranch Wagon project and finished it. Then a sweet '28 Dodge Bros 4-passenger coupe came along that I couldn't pass up. Probably shouldn't even mention the Halla forklift and the three OT cars and trucks. I'm still spending most days in my shop working on my cars and don't have plans to quit anytime soon.

I just bought a 59 Edsel. If I live long enough the front clip and two door hardtop doors will go on my 59 Ford. And the instrument cluster too

I thought I was done after I sold an OT Vette and a chopped 49 Ford. Then a couple of years later I bought the 53 Stude in the avatar almost two years ago, last spring I bought a 58 and 59 Hawk for parts, they were pretty much complete cars but.....I stumbled on a 61 Hawk and bought it yesterday. I am 74, doubt that I do any more cars after I finish the 53....but heck, I am only 74:)

If I finish this '53 Chrysler...
    I'll be happy.
If I can then build a roadster or coupe...
    I'll be fulfilled.
    Then I can die.
Oh, wait...after I drive the crap out of 'em.
