I'm really on the fence. This will be a fairy decent car, kind of a 60s vibe with shiny black paint, and I don't want to RAT ROD it up with cheezy air cleaners.

I kinda like how they look, but it is thier origin that makes me hesitate...

    Uh, you know....

  5. Not too crazy about them. Wonder if the lip was trimmed off and a bigger filter and base...

I deleted my original reply when you added the pics:D

I think they look good, they have a "smooth" look to them.
It is hard to answer correctly when it's just a "roller" without the body.
Is that the body in the background of the pics?
    '39-'40 Ford?
Are you going to run a hood?

  8. I like them too.

  9. I like them cuz their clean and simple BUT is there a way to mask the fact that they're baby moons with a hole drilled in the center?

I like 'em too .... nice clean look.
Then again, I don't know what their origin is so I don't have any preconceived notions.

  11. That's exactly why I mentioned cutting off the lip.

Can you find something that matches the valve covers without looking too modern?

They look cool and I think you're on to something, but I tend to agree with Carbs & Chrome maybe a larger base and filter?

what's the point of having 2 carbs when you restrict the airflow down that much with those lids?

  17. They do look very nice, clean, simple.
However to the trained eye they're still good old fashion "smoothie" hub caps.
If you like it.............go with it. It's your car.
I tried something similar to that but I had mine finished off in black chrome.
I liked it but nobody else did. WTF!

    They're the cheesiest!
But seriously,,I think they should look less like hubcaps "Look Honey ,this guy put hubcaps on his engine",,and more like "Wow,,what are those? they look smooth".
I really think they'd look better trimmed and with bigger diameter elements.

Dual quads on a Pontiac - I'd go with the air cleaners they used on the early SD cars; they were the same as used on Corvettes so reproductions are available.

They still look like hubcaps to me.

  26. I like them. And, I'd proudly announce they are indeed, baby moons. You are the only person your car needs to please.

Hubcaps... it would be cool if someone made an aircleaner that looked similar, but those are just hubcaps...I think you should look for something else, that car is WAY too cool for hubcap aircleaners. Nice work bringing it back from the grave, by the way!

Very CHEEZY, One question: Are you going to run the same on your wheels? Then you would have spares if you lose one and no-one will ever know.:(

That's pretty funny.... Usually, I know exactly what I want, and I don't ask for opinions, but this one was close. Looks like they will go back in teh pile of crap I'll never find a use for.

    -Abone.

    PS. These are the wheels..
