Hot Rods Are people still using Corvair steering boxes?

  1. If you have a reasonably large Pick-A-Part nearby, check it out. I have gotten lucky several times finding rare stuff, including 'Vair gears.

Another customer had a 'T' bucket, brought it over on a trailer. Corvair box just inside frame rail, behind pedals. ("Bus Style", he told me.)
He had the pinch coupling, when I said we could do something 'better', he just scoffed.
    "It's ONLY my hot rod..."
I finally won out, after threatening NOT to work on it. Imagine...Steering as an 'afterthought'.

When I restored the Ron Bizio A/GS Willys PU, it had a reversed box, still has one today. A racer stopped by the shop a while back, and gave me this one, all apart. It has been reversed and has a long arm, it was in an Altered. It's up for grabs, condition unknown ! 2013-04-02 202133.jpg IMG_3523.JPG
