April May originally agreed to offer up two of her prints for this auction. Well, she surprised me and bumped it up to three. So, up for auction are three 11 x 14 prints from one of the HAMB's best photographic talents - April May. There they are, three images of unmistakable and iconic automobiles from this hoodlum way of ours. If you read April May's profile, she humbly states that she is not creative enough to be an artist. After becoming familiar with her photographs through the Friday Art Show and the internet, I have to respectfully disagree. April May's eye and sense of composition have pushed the envelope of hot rod photography. I like to think of her work in a similar light as a well built rod or custom that uses subtle touches to set itself apart without going all out for cheesy gimmicks or over the top styling. She has taken a few steps outside of the box but is spot on.
