I believe. technically, that the Model T had either a Klaxon or Ames Electric horn. The Ahooga is a Model A horn.

No.... If you REALLY want Old School, you need to deploy a person 300 feet in front of the vehicle waving a red flag. (Don't quote me on that, I need to check the Applicable State Code)

Not sure about state reciprocity. Hm.

  7. I've got one of the plastic ones on my avatar (installed by the PO), it's been working fine for 5+ years....

I have one of the plastic ones on my A too, bought it at the swap meet for 5 bucks. It works fine, but it turns too fast. I tried adding as resistor in series to drop the current, and when I did it would not work at all, even with a very small value resistor, it just does not like having resistance in the line. So I gave u and use it like it is. Makes us laugh when I use it, cause it just doesn't sound very good.

My 47 coupe on the other hand, I have a vintage ahhhoooga horn on that, it came with the car. I don't know what make it is. That one turns too slow. I was told there might be an adjustment on the back, but I can't find one. My wife laughs even harder at that one, it really sounds lousy. If the system voltage level isn't up to a full 14 volts, it really sounds bad, way too slow.

  10. I've found with mine that no one takes it seriously as a horn, but it's a big hit with little kids during parades.... :p

mine, too, but I got a repro label and screwed it on.

  12. Only the original ones had the adjustments. That said if he wants an original one, a 6v might spin too fast on 12v, all you need to do is adjust it.

My T RPU will not have a cheesy horn like that.

IMO this is the proper spot for those horns. :D

First of all, your Model T should not have a Model A horn on it if you're being that crabby and particular . Secondly, you are entitled to to your opinion, but it's only valid for your car. Otherwise, what's on a fellow
s hot rod is up to him. Only the owner really counts. Thirdly, if you are complaining about the plastic horns some folks are using, you really shouldn't be placing them in a metal-only scrap bin.

Model of car makes no difference.
Cheesy and in poor taste remains the same regardless of the vehicle.
Scrap metal bin or regular garbage can, use whatever is appropriate.
Either way it’s where they belong. :p :D

If you go from positive ground to negative ground the horn will run backwards and go Gah Aoo.
