AOD swap help

I know there are quite a few AOD posts here, but I can't find one to help...I just swapped an AOD into my 58. I don't know what year the trans is, I was told 88 but haven't verified it. It originally had a T.V. Rod that wouldn't fit due to using a carb spacer. I installed Lokars TV kit #KD-2AODHT. When checking for correct pressure during final adjustment, (with the adjustment tool installed) the gauge will read 35psi for a couple seconds then drop down to 5 or so then back to 35...just continually up and down. Is it supposed to fluctuate? If not, why would it be? I just changed the filter, fluid, new trans cooler and new lines. Thanks for any suggestions, and yes, I should have just put a toploader in it!!!!!!
