My sister-in-law gave me a bunch of 60's wacky packages that she though I would like. These are cool ones I though you guys might like to see.
I do remember those cards, but I think they were called Odd Rods or something like that. Wacky Packages came out in the 70's - I found my old collection about 10 years ago and got obsessed with finishing out all the series. Finally got them all and sold the whole set for close to 2 grand. Wacky Packages below.
Remember them?! I used to collect all of those Odd Rods and Wacky Stickers. Wacky stickers have been reissued a number of times but the original ones are worth money and the ones I used to collect were the original ones. I used to save up soda bottles to use the money to buy the cards. If only I had the foresight to know how much money they are worth today.
I sold my collection before I went down that road - I did have the variations like 2 versions of Spit N' Spill but seriously looked into the Ludlow backs. Original artwork for the Wacky Packs is also a high $$ item. Saw some at shows.
Anyone know who created the Wacky Packs along with the artwork and graphics? Was this before Stanley Mouse and Alton's day's? Jimbo
Here is an interesting article by Jay Lynch who drew the originals. http://www.wackypackages.org/history/production.html
It's been a "few years"...lol. The crazy hot rods inspired us 3rd grade boys ('65) to start drawing them ourselves. We all got very good at drawing monsters with grotesquely bloodshot and bugged out eyes...lol. And I always thought the gross consumables were funny. "Hostage Cupcakes"...LOL!
Wow! I still have a bunch of those too...somewhere. When we were in 6th grade we thought they were cool as hell. I remember clearly going over to the TG&Y and buying them along with a bunch of one penny pixie sticks.
Still lookin' for the "Vitamin Z" card... Or was that a sticker???... I just want to see a picture of it... I think it was a yellow Z/28 with black stripes...
