Anyone put discs on a 2nd gen Nova?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 29EHV8, Apr 15, 2010.

  1. I know its been done. Trying to help out a buddy. So has onyone done this? What do we need to get for parts and do for the conversion. We want to find parts not buy some kit for big beans. My brother thought there might be a S-10 swap out or something with spindles? But another friend said we can grind part of the Nove spindle and build a plate to hold the caliper? I've googled it and could find nothing.
    Thanks!

Get all the brackets, booster, prop valve etc from the donor car. Or,
Summit sells a kit with everything in the box for around $700

I used 72 Chevelle when I did it on the 48 when I had a Camaro stub on it.

It is all unbolt the drum stuff and bolt on the disk stuff. If you get spindle and all you will have to swap the steering arms over to the rear steer Camaro arms.

It does move the wheels and tires out a bit in the process. I can't remember exactly what, something like a half or 3/4 of an inch but if fender lip clearance is tight now it might be real tight after the swap.

The upper mounting boss has to be ground down I believe 3/4 of an inch, you can buy the brackets, and dust shields, but at the end of the day it's going to cost you as much as the kits

  5. I got mine from another X body (Olds Omega, etc).
