I have no idea. I doubt it's a turtle deck because the hinged opening is on the wrong side, and it doesn't look like a trunk for a sedan or touring car.

It does look like it was hand made...???? it does not have a nice stamped shape to it

To me, it looks like a trunk off a mid 30's sedan. Picture a 34 Buick or something like that.

oh my....... the Hamb is stumped????
Strange shape. Definitely was a door in the opening. The square bottom really gets confusing.

I do have the top little door it is wood framed cannot see any numbers Ill look again. I thought too a rear to a 30s car but looked at everything and nothing matches

  11. I'm with Jim,I don't think it's a trunk for a sedan,it appears too tall and the sedans of the era are not that straight up and down on the back, they usually had a gracefully slant.

    How about some measurements? HRP

34" by 34" by 12" only number is 302 stamped into wood. appears to not be handmade so to speak. does have remains of what looks to me like back automotive paint inside

  13. I would suggest it is from the 1920s and lays down with the wood frame against the chassis/frame. The one end it is sitting on looks slightly curved which would go against the rear of a seat contour. That may be why it looks "too tall" as HRP mentions.

whatever it is I bet it lays down rather than stands up. looks like a slot for a latch there, the door would open wrong if it stood up like that.

edit: great minds think alike ^^^
