Proof that more is not always better.
Some more that I have saved from somewhere online, sorry I dont remember where I got the pics....Jim
That's heart breaking.
Found this one this weekend in a yard in NH. Looks like it had a nasty roll over.
Here is mine ('49 Lincoln) when I got it about 3 years ago.
Wow!!! It amazes me how many Mercurys are still out there just waiting to be saved!!!
Man, that had to hurt!!! If only the cars could talk!!!
Boy my 4 door roof and some doors would make this car a decent builder !
Here's some from my Grampa's yard-early 60's
When he passed away i ended up with 2 paper bages of titles & he must have scrapped 50+ Merc's
from a yard that crushed out a few years back . saved so much stainless everything else was pretty much junk
I got the outer windshield stainless trim off this one. The 2nd pic is actually a Lincoln.
Very cool pictures!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Here's a couple I found... A 49 piled up with several other cars... it's a green 2 door. (Still there)
A 1951 I come across several years back (has since been scrapped)
this one might be for sale
i need those vent windows and door stainless!!!
Wow! Any good parts left on that 49 Two door?
I removed the instrument cluster from it probably 5 years ago and sold it as well as the tail lights. There are still some parts left that I'm sure someone could use. I think the back glass is in it and I know the grille is still there, but it's rough and half buried in the dirt. I think it had some decent metal on the back also.
some I found
This one sat in the pasture since 1963 and we "picked" it up in 2006.
Totally rust free too.
This last Summer, I found a stash of old cars just in time before the crusher guy was hired to clear the estate. Couple friends and I were able to save a small handful (avatar is one I got), but unfortunately this woody wagon Merc wasn't one of them. Young guy hired to drop trees to make it so they could be extracted simply dropped them right onto the roofs of everything, including this one. (not sure why clicking on the pic turns it 90 degrees)
Got this far then the guy wouldn't sell
These might be available in about 6 months.
I would have pulled that woody out in an instant....that top can be fixed...that was a rare bird!!! Once in a lifetime deal there....Jim
I wonder if that lost Mercury, the one that was stolen, was it the Betancourt one, had rounded hood corners or not. I had the quad conversion no?
I had to look:
No need to look at the hood corners, that one has no fadeways... plus it's a 51
would've been $300 at the most, too. But didn't have the money or the time.
