Well it was 47 years ago this month that Beeline Dragway opened. I was at the opening day. What a great time to grow up! I went out there almost every weekend and won my first trophy in 1966. I have that trophy to this day on the headbord of my bed! I still live about four miles from the track. John

  4. Found this pic at Beeline in '78. Had primer 69 GTO with glass tilt front end, still have it. Used a tow bar to pull it with my red 72 455HO GTO. Note sign in background. We were lined up waiting to get in.

I am very interested in seeing any 37-42 Willys coupes from this area as the coupe I have now came from there with not much racing history. I have some of the original key parts on mine to help identify it. Great pictures, please keep them coming!

Crazy I have been back in az for like 20 years and drove past there a million times and never new ther was a drag strip there. crazy. It would be awsome if it was to reopen due to there is not a whole lot in the east valley for motor sports.

Beeline Dragway from the early days aerial view! You can see Beeline Highway just to the left and i think it's called RED Mountain in the back ground. John

They can not simply reopen the track due to the salt River indian tribe wanting nothing to do with it unfortunately. Firebird raceway also resides on an indian res and could just as easily lose their lease..

  19. Being from the Beeline days, I am a big fan of that car. I have had little success finding much. There are a few pictures a page or two back.

My Grandfather was Archie Campbell, who was partnered with Jim Rogers when they opened Beeline. My father Mike raced there in a couple of different cars, one being a 6 cylinder willys coupe, and a 426 wedge powered Chrysler that was putting out 400 plus HP at the rear tires on a Dyno that he owned, one of the first in the state! Anyone remember?

A buddy of mine sent me a Craig's List link from somewhere near Morgantown, WV just a month or two ago. The Chevy van below was for sale ... can't remember the specifics.

Hello does anyone remember this 68 corvette from Beeline in 1969 -70
It had a Bee and a throphy on front fender saying "Glory Bee" and an american flag on roof sides. Just as pictured running with american racing wheels.
I would love to see old pictures from the car racing.
    thanks
    Greg
