I'm a station wagon nerd, I own 7 of them. Number 7 is off topic. I have many years of experience driving different wagons. For your purpose, I would recommend an early to mid '60s full sized wagon, with a V8, automatic transmission, power steering and power brakes. My '65 Ford and my '61 Chevy are both equipped this way. They are comfortable and roomy, have huge amount of cargo space, have good access to that cargo space (I tried to bring home a '40 Ford hood in my '57 Chevy Sedan Delivery, it would not fit through any of the doors) , are easy to drive, are reliable, and cruise at modern highway speeds with no worries.
