I have a buttload of C-clamps and bar clamps. Right now I am storing them on the edge of my table, but they are starting to be in the way. Hambers are some of the most resourceful folks on the planet, so I thought I would ask for your thoughts.

I kinda though about building a rolling tree of sorts using a heavy base, like an old rotor etc. and then build a cross out of angle to give them something to clamp top. The only thing I worry about is the weight being up high.

Second option was to add a piece off of the welding table to span the width of the table and you would hang them overhead. Pictures are always a plus.

    Thanks,

    Root

If he legs on your bench are out at the ends, just weld in a pipe between the legs and hang them. If the legs are inset, make it like a “towel bar”.

I have a cart (which never moves) that has a couple lower shelves. One for C clamps and one for Visegrips. They are both full, unorganized, and messy. But if I took the time to make bars to clamp the tools to it would be time taken away from car work. And then I would need to take time to adjust and install each tool when I returned it to its space.

I'll be watching this thread for good solutions.

I can't take credit for this one but it's what I'd do on a smaller scale given the amount of tiedown and rigging material I have.[IMG]

image_78528.jpg Vicegrips are right at hand on the welding bench, well when I remember to put them back. I don't have many c clamps but it seems like it would work for that. Bar clamps are attached to a shelf near the drill press, mostly. There's a couple that hang randomly on the underside of shelf brackets.

See, you guys are always thinking. I was thinking I should clamp it. Never even thought about just hanging them over a bar. Genius.

I may make a modified version of this. Have a couple of uprights welded to the table top, with a bar across. Easy and cheap.

You guys are too neat. My C clamps are in a drawer in one of the tool boxes, the vise grips are in the drawer that holds all my other pliers. The two bar clamps I have are hanging off a Ford shorty header that’s hanging on the wall with a couple of nails. You want to use one, dig in the drawers until you find it.

I have peg board on two walls of my garage with all manner of things hanging around, and one spot is for clamps.

Now that is a serious welding table! I'm jealous, mine is just a 2nd hand sheet of 3/8 diamond plate with that angle iron welded on one side. But it was free. The only cost was the casters a number of years ago. Even the vise was given to me.

As far as chains go take a steel truck rim , cut a piece of flat plate cut round to set over the lug holes and bolt/weld the plate to the wheel. Get a piece of 2 1/2”/3” round pipe about 5/6 feet in length and weld that upright on the center of your round flat circle and brace accordingly. Take some flat stock and weld tabs 3 or 4 horizontal off the pipe about 6” down . Take another length of flat stock and form in a circle ( approximately 2 1/3 ft to three feet in diameter) and weld to your horizontal tabs. You end up with a 3 ft circumference to slide one end or both ends ( hooks) on the vertical band .

IMG_20220512_163616714.jpg I made this one to also hold my spring clamps as seen on the left. I have a lot more clamps, but they are currently holding a project together while the glue dries.

I just pick up cheap towel racks at garage sales, mount them to the wall and hang c clamps and vise grips from them.

I could build brackets but hey I buy the towel racks for a buck a piece or so, cheaper than the materials and definitely cheaper on my time building some.

I keep my chains outside, because I use the outside more often;). This is about 2/3rds of mine hanging the drapes over angle iron. Others are in use or laying somewhere;)

In my basement I clamp the bar clamos to the floor joyces over head and "C" to X braces between floor joyces.

My wife gave me half of an old wooden ladder. Although wasn't a thought out plan , I just started putting all my clamps on different rungs. It leans against the wall and I move it if it pisses me off.

If you have wall space sink those gold construction screws into a stud and use the screw as a hanger. I only put 2 per screw in matched pairs for c clamps since they get heavy. You can even nest clamps within clamps if you get creative. Pretty cheap and effective.
