Has anyone done a 460 swap in a 41-48 Ford car? I have a coupe and have the original frame as well as an s10 frame. I have a c6 but would rather use a t5 instead, I have an IRS from a Tbird and a 57 9inch as well. I am wanting to build a no nonsense beast Any, ideas would be appreciated.
I don't have a 460 in my 41 but it has a 351M in it. I can tell you that the C6 will most likely not fit unless you modify the X-member. I have an FMX trans and you have to pull the motor to get the tranny out. The FMX and C4 are close in size the C6 is larger. Here is a link to a a company that makes an adapter to bolt an AOD to the 460/429 motor. http://www.transmissionadapters.com/ford_429 install.htm Other than the tranny issue you may need a rear sump pan to clear the front Mustang II cross member.
