  1. Not exactly a HAMB-mobile but this is definitely interesting... and it sticks to the road like a booger does on a two year olds finger?

I actually kinda' like it... although for street and cruising use it sure could use some better looking wheels and rubber...

awww crap... (edit)... Volvo did...

My buddy had one a few years ago with a Volvo banger and transmission, he bought it in Atlanta and sold it on eBay. I think he owned it for about 2 years.

I took my 16V Volvo head to Dover Cyl. Heads today to get it welded up to fit a Ford 2.5 block. Does that count?

I used to own a 24 T with a Volvo 18-B 4 cylinder and drivetrain in it. Wasn't quick but would cruise all day at 75 mph making 26-28 mpg. It was totally dependable, and I liked being different. Dutch Eshelman in Iowa has built several Volvo rods including a nice track t with a Volvo 6 in it.

  11. That's a cool car... and an awesome picture! :)

This is my good friends car, thats my son riding with his "uncle Tony".
I couldn't find one but this one shows the side with the hood on.
The nose is a model T ford and (2) Austin upper grills blended together. There was a thread a while back. The car was built by a gentleman in GA, Tony and I fabricated the headlight mounts and made them turn with the wheels. Tony had the nose painted white / yellow and put 18x4 rear wheels and 17x4 front rims on the car with Moon disks. The intake is a volvo Penta intake with (2) down draft carbs, the exhaust is a pair of straight pipes with a factory split manifold.

I overheard a conversation a few months back between a couple mechanics that specialized in euro-crap. They were talking about the older Volvo RWD 4 cylinders being constructed like brick shit-houses. That these little motors could be built to make monster loads of HP and handle a but-load of nitrous. Thick castings, forged guts, etc.

I have no clue exactly what years or models they were talking about... I dont even know if it's true, but it wouldn't surprise me too much. Volvo did build some stuff that was known for being over-engineered back before GM took 'em over.

I get a kick out of seeing the cars Dutch Eshelman builds. Anybody have pics of the Volvo rods? I'd bet they're something special.

    Side profile? How about this?

The new owner has put a LOT of work into this car that I can see from the photos posted. Sure glad it's still being enjoyed. It was a lot of fun to drive!

Tex Smith's dollar a pound roadster runs Volvo front discs adapted to a Ford axle, Volvo rear axle and Volvo wheels.
Engine is a mid '60's Pontiac OHC 6.

    RINGA DING DING!

I'm not much for "bobber trucks"tm but the proportions on this little* Fordson and the chop and the stance etc. WORK. I like this a lot, and that Volvo mill looks pretty cool too.

*I'm sure the size of the car is what makes it "work"!

PIR8DARRYL. Think it should be Ford taking over Volvo, not GM! Still owns them by the way!! :)
Maybe You were thinking of the other Swedish brand Saab, they are owned by GM.

There is a black 32 Ford here in Sweden built roadracing style with fourwheeldrive and turbovolvo engine, extreme car, will probably show up in magazines soon.

Think GM might own Volvo trucks, or used too?

  28. I did it too...perfect fit and for me liwing in Sweden there are plenty of cheap parts everywhere, You can even find some stuff to a Volvo in the nearest gas-station if you need something at a late night...

Beefier axles in that rear-end than stock Ford 9 inch axles, and not so easy to destroy,a friend had those axles modified and used in a 9 inch, marked them up and found out that they haved turn a lap and a half and then some without breaking.

  29. No they do/did not,the truck part of Volvo was not included in the deal with FORD,they stand alone and doing very well thank you...

But they do own White trucks in the US since a couple of Years back (10???)
