Im just wondering how it would sit and if had any steering issues. Im looking at a 3” drop. May also have to reverse spring eyes to get it reasonably low?
Wow that low for 3". I'm picking its got a few leaves missing and possibly reversed spring eyes. Plus something happening in the rear also to sit this good.
As quoted from the site; Here is the 47 Ford lowered with 3" dropped axle. Front spring main leaf eyes reversed and one spring removed. Rearend flipped to top of springs, frame c-notched and one leaf removed
You should contact Sid's. They are very free with information on their dropped axles and I'm sure would be happy to talk to you about the Ford in the picture above (which is just a bitchen old truck). - EM
Sid is a great guy to deal with and does excellent work. I ordered a 3" dropped axle from him for my '53 Dodge 1/2 ton and after reversing the spring eyes and removing the shortest leaf was able to lower the front end 6".
I had a 3" dropped axle under my 46. Worked well. Had to heat and bend the steering arms on the spindles and modify the bend in the drag link if I remember.
When I sent my axle to Sid, I had him bend the spindles for me to work with the drop. It came back painted with new bushings installed, arms bent and magna fluxed.
