It's a 1951 Mercury Pickup which is rare down here in Texas. It's in Canada but I know it's been in the North East to shows. Owned by a fellow HAMBer? Anybody know it? Vouch for it being a good truck? Any info or thoughts are MUCH appreciated :D

    Thanks!!!

It's in Toronto, which is where I believe this one was built. I prefer the 53-56 body style, but I really like this one...it looks to have been done well. If you built this one, then you would have traded it for a late 40s convertible I believe??? Let me know if you did, I'd love to ask you some question....
You don't have one you'd care to sell now do you?
    thanks,
    John

  8. Toronto is about 4000 miles from me.
    I didn't build this one.
I have some merc trim etc from a 48 and thats bout it right now.....Shiny

That would be a 52 M-1, Eh Shiny. 51 has the MERCURY on the hood ornament, or at least that's where mine are. Killer lookin pickup.

Cool, never seen a truck like this before. Are they common in the states?

Yep I have seen that truck before at a local show in Waterdown. It has an orange engine bay right? It is a pretty clean truck, looked to be well built IMO.

No, they aren't. From what I understand they only sold them in Canada. Pretty rare to have something like that make it's way down South.....They're basically the same as the Ford trucks, just with Mercury badging.

I've seen the truck. Nicely done with a potent small block. What else do you need to know?
Here is another Merc p/u for you....

Just looking for the buts...(really nice pickup, but...) :)
I know it doesn't have a tailgate, which sucks...but hey, it's really low which is good.
Any other things you noticed that are downsides?
Anything that stood out other than the small block?
Before I invest in a plane ticket and try to drive cross-country I'd love to find out what I can.
Thanks for the other picture, I bet that thing scoots....

I'll give a friend a call. He knows who owns/built the truck. I am no expert but I heard everything on the truck was done right. I'll PM you with details. It'll take me a day or two.

I didn't really study it at teh time but as I remember it was pretty well built and is pretty clean. There are lots of those trucks up here, my buddy has had 3 or something like that.

Thanks for all the info guys...very helpful. I'm about to search for plane tickets to come next week. Nothing has popped up that I like as much as this one so I guess it's time to see it in person.....I'm really coming for the hotrod tour and the "special" beer.
Yes, if anyone has or knows of a mercury tailgate or even just the badging, hollar at me.
I'll keep you posted if I get it or not.....
keep me posted on anything else you guys find out.
