Anybody noticed? We're 40000 STRONG

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Dino the weirdo, Jan 21, 2008.

  1. Excellent point! I remember our fist HAMB meet and great at BTT50s in 2000. There were about 8 of us, everyone kinda wondered what kinda freaks we would be face to face:D BobK offered me a beer, at that time I had thought he was a Pastor?!

  2. I remember when I joined there was about 12,000 members. That was Jan. 2006! It has grown at a rapid pace.
I was looking for a member the other day,and couldn't believe all the FNG's! I think the page was ROB,or BOB. It was pretty funny...
Just remembered it...just go to "R" on the members page! FNG,FNG,FNG,FNG,etc....LOL!!

  3. Gotta send a big thanks out to Nads for "showing me the ways of the FARCE" Truthfully, have met tons of cool people from all over the frickin' place. Most, whom have shown me more down-home hospitality than some of my relatives.
(You can pick your nose, but you can't pick.....):p

Also as a result of this here message board...Have bought/sold($$) all kinds of parts, gotten good advice about gearhead issues, and attended some wild events and parties.

Have noticed the Hamb being mentioned more and more in hi-line publications. Who can argue with 40,000 of anything???

Either we know the guy that works alone in his garage or most likely, we are one ourselves. I socialize but am not outspoken when in a group. So, as in any society, there will be some that speak more often than others. I believe that Hamb is largely made up of those of us that were there, did it and will offer up help when they feel comfortable doing so. A wise man once taught me to keep my mouth shut and my ears open.
I found Hamb awhile ago and have found so many good people that share our interests. Admittedly, we walk a different path than most citizens and I truly can't imagine any other lifestyle.
Thanks for everyone out there that thinks for themselves and is willing to share the lessons they have earned and learned.

According to some, I am a lurker. I do post but only when I have some positive input for someone's problem or the thread on jet cars. That brought back some memories. I don't post on my projects as of now because of work, (self-employed)home re-model, Taking too damn long), newly wed, etc. I wished I had the time for my one project, a 1947 HD WL w/sidecar. Probably take 3-4 days , wished I had them. I will become a member soon but living has to come first.

To all; Good luck and good rodding!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember the Inside the Web board with the red text threads on a white background. I remember Ofc. Spellcheck, Mephy, and of course Germ. I think spudz was there too.

I have the very first HAMB sticker, drawn by my friend Mike "da Wolf" Baker. How many other "grenade inspectors" have one?

Due to the circumstances of my life (two Navy Reserve mobilizations, 4 moves, school, and periods of no work/money), I've had to sell three project cars without being able to really get started on them. So I just read and learn and occasionally (rarely) post. Maybe someday I'll have the time and money to build something as opposed to just buying something.

I never cared about post counts and I didn't know my number, #21, until now. Means nothing.

I've met some people from here and made some good friends, and even met Ryan at the Lone Star Roundup in 2006.

Ryan, thank you so much for putting together and maintaining this vast body of knowledge and automotive experience. It just keeps getting better without ever having lost what made it great to begin with. Viva la HAMB!

You sure about that Rashy? I was a HAMBer at 4 years old. My daily driver was a Hot Wheels. We didn't have the internet. I had to post pics on the refrigerator..

I'm #115 on this incarnation of the board.

I remember when Killer was a mod and how amazed we all were when we reached 5000 members.

The Hamb site has offered me an opportunity to meet a lot of new fellow Hot Rodders as well as also being able to share some storys and pics from my daily "travels". This site is unique........it brings us all together, even though we are spread out over the globe. The information is non-stop,no matter how long one has Hot Rodded, there is something here to learn from. The enthusiasm and comradeship on the site is outstanding !~!

I just meant his was the only one that showed he was here before Mar2001....

Many of us were HAMBers just waiting for the HAMB to catch up!

Apparently I'm wrong about the whole Ryan being the only one thing. Thanks for making me a liar. Jerk.

Its kind of wierd looking back at the hamb. A lot of the links on the above pages do not work.

i guess i should post more, i had all my posts wiped out, it says i am a newbie, but i am number 14.....go figure...guess i spend too much time in the shop

  24. Actually, I think you can subtract 2 from that number and that is the number you are.
Ryan is number 3... and **DONOTDELETE** is #2... which I don't think is a HAMB'er... that's something that goes in place when someone gets the BOOT (I think).
And then ryanc is #1... which is ryan, again... don't know for sure what he uses that for.

I also don't know how accurate that is... as I know my number is 13... and there are guys like Jason and Dr. J who were here before me. I know Jason changed his name to Killer... maybe that has something to do with it?
I know I had a name change... I was Joe Doaks in the beginning... named after a character in a Mike Bishop editorial...
I also had a couple alias' early on... when that Tomfoolery was allowed (encouraged?)

I do know Shag and radshit are ahead of me... and were here when I came on board in '99
    Sam.

wow I'm 1014 and dont think I've contributed anything worth remembering. If it wasnt for the lampshade and my huge schlong I'd be completely forgotten.

I came in and remember there was a big controversy over a proposed HAMB swimsuit/pinup calendar or something that was degrating to women.
