I'm rebuilding an old 322 Buick Nailhead for my latest project - it has an "Isky 310 Hydraulic" cam - which I'm going to keep. Problem is it needs new valve springs ( a bunch broken....) - and I can't seem to get Isky interested in going into their archives to get me specs on the cam and/or recommended spring specs. Can anyone help - my oldest Isky catalog is '94 - no nailhead stuff.
I have a 59 Isky catalog and they don't list any hydraulic cams for Buicks only E-2 Rev-Master ; E-3 Rev Master; S-281 Hyperbolic and 5- cycle cams.
Here's the rundown on your cam from my 1967 1/2 Isky catalog: lift, .429. Advertised duration, 310 degrees. Opening and closing points, 45-85 for the intake and 85-45 for the exhaust. The original Iskenderian part number for the recommended spring set is 1006W. It consisted of 16 special inner springs that were intended to be used in conjuction with the stock outer springs.
I just got an isky off e*ay for my 394 olds motor. P/N 641262. It shows the specs but I wanted to know if the listed duration of 260 is at 0.050 or not. The catalog is from 1980. When did listed duration at .050 become standard? Is there a formula to convert the 260 duration to .050 duration or is this number useless? Thanks J
No that's 260 degrees of avertised duration, not at .050 lift. Sounds like a good duration figure for a street cam.
Hi, Isky will supercede the 1006W spring to a Isky # 7005. Yes, it is a Datsun SOHC Spring. Info from Ron Iskenderian directly... Good Luck!
Thanks, guys. Engine is built and in car (frame). Ended up using production outer springs, then matching 1006W specs with a CompCams inner. Heres a picture of the engine - in the Wildfire frame.......
