Anybody else running a strange motor

    the V12 BMW motor is crazy ,

    I have a '50 Bentley straight 6 (4.25 B60) in my shop i'd love to use but the height is a real issue in a Channelled 32

    Anyone used an early Rolls V8 on SU's ?

    you just made my day.. i know far to many people who think the fastest thing in the world is a 327 with camel hump heads and a single 4 barrel.

    theres no replacement for displacment!!

    Oh yeah, totally. Some of those, some maserati engines... Hell, I got a bently continental engine in my hand right now.:D

    the split headers look a little like a r*t r*d but i think the motors a cool idea, just cant really call it traditional :D

    The exhaust was not my first choice, after I recover from spending way way too much money I will change them.

    i like the engine, its the car, its needs a paint job, o by the way,a motor is elec, a engine is gas run

    I didnt take offense. I would love to hear different suggestions on exhaust. Nobody makes headers for this engine so they all have to be custom made.

    i actually love those style headers but having them separate doesnt flow i guess. id like to see all 6 made into 1 cone, sure its possible but i do understand the tail end of a project...ive found myself doing embarrassing things just to get something done!!

    The reason I went with the 3 into 1, was for flow.
    A friend of mine built a 1989 Lola chassis formula one car with this same engine. I should post a photo of that engine. Custom made hilborn style fuel injection. its a thing of beauty, anyway he told me that the motor would only run right when the had the quad 3 into 1 exhaust system, the stock system is pretty similar

    so thats where I started

    I like the thought of something different. Traditional or not, it can be appreciated.

    I am thinking of running an international 392 (the block family started in 1959) in a 36' truck.... Is that considered traditional--even though unlikely.....

    All perspectives...

    my car is a 1957 ford escort( english) with a 350 chevy bolted to a
    727 chrysler w/o the tailshaft directly coupled to a 1963 pontiac

    My favorite engine for a small / light car would be the Alfa I4. What looks better? They are aluminum, are hemis with cross flow heads and the GTA motors have dual plugs, too. 7 quart sump and a 5 speed that works like a hot knife in butter. I chose a blown, late model 3800 GM V6 for my truck. Gary

  25. Dude that BMW motor is tits! That thing is gonna be a freaking screamer!! I myself will be running a Chevy 307 that I stumbled upon for $100 in my '50 Chevy. Who gives a shit what kind of motor you run as long, as it runs and you can fix it yourself.

    Even further down on the O/T tree of life, like the Hayabusa Fiats, the little Italian 500s could be made into good racers in their own right. There were many Abarth versions but even more obscure were the Austrian versions - called Steyr Puchs. They were killer autocrossers and I saw boat loads of them run in Germany back in the late 1960's when I was in the Army there. They were pretty much unbeatable for fast times of the day.
    They used Puch engines instead of the Fiat mills and they had their own markings and badges. To me, they were like an Alpina Fiat 500s, just like their Abarth twin brothers. Don't tell the O/T police! Later, Gary

    I agree.

    I play in a cow-punk band (think rockabilly-inspired tunes with more distortion and filthy lyrics). I will always call it a punk band.

    People compare us to other bands that fit in their "punk" category, but we sound nothing like them. They say we are not punk.

    I say we are more punk than the modern punks, because we are not following the trend.:cool:
