I have a 55 Chevy 4 door and was thinking how it would look as a pickup. If it was cut at the door post and the back removed and a pickup bed installed, step side style. Any one have pics of something like this. or could do a photo shop chop to get an idea.

make a camper out of it. Although this was a 2dr hardtop pontiac...the idea is similar.

  5. There was a tri five pickup/ute at the Chopped show a few weeks ago, I thought it looked pretty good style wise! Search 'chopped' there was a few threads with pics.

Post a side or angled pic of your car and I'll give it a shot.

I like utes, so I like this idea. I've seen it on tri-fives, but not a 58.

henry29, what is the green car in that pic.

  9. With the multitude of reasonably priced 55-57 Chevy pickups for sale out there why bother?

I like their wipers, plus they have neat windows. Has anybody ever made one into a submarine? I bet there's alot of sealing involved.

Just move the roof foward like a shortened tri-5 like we all have seen, then make the trunk area into the bed, somebody photo shopped one on here , I can't remember the thread.

These pics came from Chevy Classics #3 magazine. Back in the early 80's these were called Pre-Caminos.

An OahuEli photoshop is worth waiting for, I'm curious to see what it'll look like myself.

But personally, if I had a '55 Chevy 4 door and wanted to do some cutting and welding on it, I'd do this.

I've already done 2 Mopars this way and I've got all the pieces to do my '57 Chevy as well once its new engine is installed.

Those pre-caminos look like as stupid as the earlier post of the one with stepside body. If you want a pickup buy one but don't waste another 55 wether 2 or 4-door.

those 2 55s started life as Nomads. As a matter of fact, AMT models used to sell a kit of a 55 Nomad that could be converted into a truck. I have never heard of anyone using a 55 car body and converting it into a truck. They have always used wagons, Nomads or standard wagons.

  29. Most of the pix look just like what they are. But I must say I like the lines of that '57/'59.
