Any one have some ideas on how to hide an independent suspension on a 34 Ford coupe open wheel.Dan

  2. You could go with a split axle (not a good suspension choice, IMO). That is about the only thing that would even come close to looking "right".

If you must run an indie front on a Rod; Put a set of fenders on the car.
Its really the only way unless you want to swap it out for a dropped axle set up.
Indie front suspension on a fenderless car simply, completely breaks all the rules in Hot Rodding cause it never looks good.

Put fenders on or drop axle. Those are about it for choices if you care about it looking good.

Even with fenders you will see too much of it.

There is no way to make it look right. Not even a little bit.

The easiest way is to cut it off and put it on the side of the garage,
under a tarp if you really want to hide it good.

Put it under a Street Beast and paint it hot pink...the color will draw the eye away from the front end....

  14. Put it on a car that came with an independent suspension. Then buy an I-beam for your 34.
    Later,

I seen two cars at Marcels that had fairings out to the brake kind of an early indy type car real aero. I never took any pictures, still have not seen them at any shows, real high dollar cars I think.

  17. Still a dumb idea to try to hide IFS, but here's an example...period correct, too.

Independent front suspension = Street rod. Straight axle = Hot Rod. :)

I've never seen a fenderless car with independent front suspension that I liked, they just look wrong IMO. Torch it off and do it right.

Unless the vin number of the car matches the frame I'd think about selling the whole chassis to a street rodder. Or it might be easier to put fenders and bumpers on it and drive the wheels off it with the independent somewhat hidden.

"Street rodder" being the key words. No offense intended...just saying.

Pretty car, but it is a street rod, not a hot rod. And I agree with Royalshifter, it needs a straight axle.

To build a hot rod you need to put a straight axle under it - like others have said. So build a hot rod!

The only way to hide is to take it off. Then Hide It.
