I've been trying to organize my shop and there are tires all over the place. I counted up over 20 tires gobbling up my precious floor area.

I decided I need to build a tire rack of some sort, but before getting started I thought I'd ask here for some ideas.

So c'mon guys....I know there are some great minds on this board, let's see what you've come up with!

"I feel your pain" f**king tires, can't live with'em' can't live without'em :D Back when I was racing I just made a simple 2x-1x rack. Plenty good enough for f**king tires.

Or you could just get rid of about 18 of them....:D

If your shop is really nice, and you want perfection, Some 1.5" or 2" sq tube, weld it up and throw on some paint....Bolt it to the wall and support it to the ceiling with some nice chain....

Does it have to be a wall-mount? I built a free-stander out of 3/4" pipe. I could get a pic and post it if you wish.

I found a set of old cast iron porcelain covered stanchions from a movie theater and bolted the suckers to the wall with 2 pieces of pipe.

    VERY NICE!!!!!!

One I made from 1" tubing that hangs on the wall.

  8. Coulda bought an old dealership tire rack that would hold like 40 standard tires, was on casters, at an auction for $20 Saturday. I don't think you could make it yourself that cheap.

I leave them out in the yard until they get dry rotted and yucky, then I take them to the dump. (5 at a time is their limit though)

If the rack is made correctly you can also store wheels of all sizes on it.
