Just installed my radiator. I,ve got a 16 inch fan here and I also have 2 x 10 inchers. Dunno whether it's better to run 1 big one or the 2 smaller ones.
Run the ones that move the most air. The 16 inch fan has a total area of around 200 square inches, the two 10 inches total around 155 square inches. So you would think the singles 16 would be best...... but the total CFMs could be more on the two tens, because of speed. Check the cfm ratings and choose the largest. Also consider that the 16 inch will cover mote area on your radiator. Bones
I am not a proponent of electric fans, I use the largest multi-blade steel fan I can fit, never have any heating issues. I'm sure if you have your heart set on a electric fan there are many here who use them and swear by them, they will offer their suggestions. HRP
Use the 16 inch fan with a good shroud, it should work fine. I might suggest Cooling Components fan built with shroud. Good quality stuff, even if not traditional. Phil
Then use the biggest fan, I would suggest follow Phils led, he drives his roadster long and hard. HRP
Ok, the two tens move 700 cfm of air..... but cover approximately 50 square inches less of the radiator...... looks like the 16 would get the nod....probably would look better , too. Bones
The dual 10" I've had in the past didn't cool as well as a well ducted 16". The sum of 2 10" cfm may be higher, but there's more electric motor blocking air with duals too.
Some peoples kids! I did the same thing, blower belt in the way, couldn't figure out how to run a steel fan so I stuck a 16" spral in a shroud on a copper and brass radiator. I tucked it in real good so it is hidden for the most part. You have to look for it. As far as cooling, I ran it all summer and it never even thought of overheating even sitting in traffic. Not bad for a blown flathead.
