A buddy just dropped these off for me he found them in an old scrap yard lying in a weed patch. Can anyone identify what aircraft and vintage they are ? Thanks.
Oh manThose are just old yard chairs. I'll come get them out if your way....those things are sick!!!!
A little earlier than that. They were using Martin-Baker Mk 7s by that time, pretty sophisticated piece of equipment. Just hazarding a guess, maybe F-84 Thunderjet, or F-89 Scorpion, something like that? Early fifties, first generation? I checked F-86 and T-33/P-80, they are a little different than that. They look familiar, just cant put my finger on it.
did you check armored vehicle seats? my ex brother in law [asswipe] had a sarasin [sp?] that had seats that looked like that. i tried to search but couldn't find anything.
I know a little about aircraft stuff, but I am lost on armoured vehicles. I am damn sure I have seen them before, I just cant place them!
They look like chopper seats. We have some very similar ones in the S61 sea kings. Same style of vertical adjustment and similar mounting.
It looks mid to late 40's. Maybe a Boeing B-50. The B-50 had squared off tops on the seat like that. Many of the WWII seats had a rounded top on the seat back. It was before ejection seats. The void at the bottom is so you can sit on your parachute. But I'm just guessing based on pictures I've seen. The lever on the side is so you can adjust the height of the seat, so it could be a fighter or trainer seat... I've looked at several too and it's not T-28, T-6, B-47, C-97/KC-97, B-36, F7F, Hellcat, or Panther
Hah! Those are most of the ones I looked at too + a bunch more! Didn't check the B-50. Dumprat could be on the right track, I didn't check any copters. I have just been doing quicky google searches so far, I will break out the books tomorrow.
Thanks everyone appreciate the guestimates. Let me know if you get it nailed down. No casting or stamps numbers anywhere I can find (yet).
Look under the ass part of the seat... you know, the back side... there should be a registration number stenciled there. If there is, get it to me and I'll tell you what all aircraft they fit... if they were military anyway... and they look to be post WWII to me.
Don't recognize those either, but I know they're not ejection seats or from an F-89... Small lever on the side is for locking/unlocking the shoulder harness.
Still trying to nail down what aircraft they came from ??? They will soon make their way into my 34' but it sure would be nice to know what they originated from. Thanks .
