My buddy just got a nice Galaxie and I wanted to get some ideas to inspire him...Thanks BB
You didn't specify stock or Kustom. Here is my friends, it is a ultra low mileage all stock 390 4 speed model. IMHO, the fender skirts look cool. Vinyl top is a factory option. Was stashed in a tobacco barn, in N.C. for a long time.
p.s. this car is available $$, if anyone is interested, PM me.
........or a wagon.
Also some nice ones on here.
There's another thread floatin' around about 62's, theres some nice ones in there you should take a look at, they're earlier, but maybe get some ideas?
My own opinion about the 61-62, 63, and 64's are that the early ones look right at home as a lowrider or mild custom, all the early ones I've seen have been like that, I don't think the roof line has the "agressiveness" as the laters. 63's are sort of the odd child, kinda a bastard child if a 64 had sex with a 62, they can go either way. But the 64's, now, THOSE are the tough lookin' ones, I haven't seen many kustom 64s, but I think they look better with a tough, agressive stance.
That's just IMHO, I like all of 'em, I just think some are better suited for one thing or another.
I hope I can get my Galaxie lookin' that good again, get the body work done on it... I'm seriously considering setting my suspension up like the Tobacco King, can't make up my mind though... Any opinions?:
Damn rear bumpers on these cars... Mines a bit better than that, but not much and it got banged up a bit on the drivers side when I wrecked. Ford made them outta too thin metal, so lots of them are rotted out, lots are too thin to be cleaned up and chromed, and they're expensive. I found a perfect one at Carlisle for $800, wish I woulda had that kind of money. I think I'm just gonna sand mine smooth, fill up the couple dents with either putty or lead, and paint it argent. I saw one at Carlisle that way, I mean, its not as good as a nice chrome one, but it looked pretty nice that way.
An incredibly short drive-by of my old Ford with Agent Orange dubbed over.......
(almost 20 years ago, crap)
Here's a few
When I look at the the Constellation I notice it has a blade bumper on the front. I'm wondering if you could adapt a later Ford blade style bumper on the back and build a valance. Seems like a cool custom touch. Most of the late 60's Fords and Mercs had that kick up on the back bumper including the Mustang which are easy bumpers to get and modify.
I think 64's look pretty damn good laid out too!
This is my 64.
I have a couple of them. This is the only one running at this time.
heres my old one
Thanks Bob, guys keep em coming these are great!!!
