Any Anglia cars or projects out there?

The three hole grilles are very rare. From what I am told that was 1948 US cars only -
A pristine one can fetch $5,000

 

I am going to look for a cheaper two-holer for my build, which certainly will not be worthy of a $5000 grille.



BTW, my pink slip calls it a '49, but the grille looks original to the car

 

and it appears you have Clam Shell vents which were 48 only.
You can find two hole grilles for around $500 pretty regularly. A $5k three hole has to be Perfect with Perfect trim etc.

I noticed the clam shell vents. I remember trying to figure out all the permutations from an Anglia Obsolete article - clam shell vs opening door vents, 2-hole vs 3-hole, domestic vs European market, etc. and I threw up my hands in confusion. For example, my son's '48 has door vents and two-hole grille. In some instances I suspect a little creative title transactions. Many folks just refer to all Anglias as "'48 Anglias".

Is that dash stock? Most I've seen are Bakelite. That looks like metal.
BTW, my son is in Orange Co, SoCal too. Since both our Anglias reside out East we plan to do a father/son cross nation trek when they are both road worthy. His will stay there, mine may find a new home afterwards.

Pretty sure he has some two holers, talked to him yesterday. Also, an "Average" condition three hole is worth about $2,000 or so, it takes a spectacular one to hit the 5k number

Wrong info. That car ran for a long time before the crash. They tested an old funny car motor but it was a one time deal. After that ran for another long time before sold two more times in the island. Then it was sold to a guy from Puerto Rico and he took it to Florida. Now is a Pro Street.

Interestingly that is a UK Popular (post 1953) not an Anglia.

 

Here in the UK, the 7w used the three hole grille 37-39. They are very desirable and rare over here as well.Not sure it was used postwar on UK cars but happy to stand corrected on that. The three hole grille was certainly on Australian tourers after 1945/6.

I did meet a man in around 2001/02 at a show who had worked at Ford’s Doncaster factory where the Populars were built after around 55/56 (an ex railway workshop) in the uk in the 50s and 60s who confirmed that huge stocks of parts were being used up by Ford postwar until the last of the range in 1959, so often older parts would be found in newer cars which largely fits in with my own observations as I have been involved with these cars since school days in 1968!

 

Any other info or distinguishing features, I’ve got 2 Anglias, ex race cars .
